+ There are lots of reasons to not google someone you’re about to go on a date with (keeping the mystery alive, not being creepy in your conversational topics, having to remember what you know about them from what they said versus what you know about them from Twitter etc.), but if you want to anyway, here’s how:

I know I literally just suggested Googling someone’s username so that you can read, like, the oeuvre that is their Gawker Comments, but that is probably overkill for a first date. If you’re in the early stages of getting to know someone, there is really no reason to go more than 2 Google pages deep, as bloodthirsty for knowledge as you may be. A cursory look at their Twitter, blog, work associations, and any other hits that would come up on the first or second page is permissible. Thoroughly investigating every single place their name appears on the internet is overkill. (Just to be clear: I have absolutely done this.)

+ Pro tips for hooking up when you’re travelling (try things, don’t bring it home with you, don’t do it in a dorm room but sneak off to an empty room instead):

“Do NOT go to bed like an idiot without knocking. USE THE DOOR FOR WHAT IT WAS MADE FOR – KNOCK ON IT. Traveling is not the time for being shy or playing hard-to-get. You know what happens when you do? “Hot Josh” boards a bus to the next city the following morning as scheduled, because he assumes you’re not into him, and you miss out on a seriously epic, saucy opportunity. Don’t assume you won’t regret this rookie error, because – fun fact – you will.”

+ Virgin Airlines will now let passengers send drinks to other passengers. This is potentially awesome, potentially the worst:

“You’ll now be able to send a drink, food, or a message via your personal entertainment center to another passenger on the flight – simply scroll through the seat map loaded on your seat-back entertainment system while craning your neck behind you to ascertain if that lovely lady is in row 46 or 47, then choose from the array of cocktails and snacks available on Virgin flights. Once you swipe your card, a flight attendant will deliver your offering to the object of your affection. You can even follow it up with some seat-to-seat instant messaging. This service is now available on all Virgin flights.”

+ A new series of workshops in Toronto will teach sex ed where schools haven’t.

+ The Gasm, the eco-friendly sex toy Lelo made up for April Fools’, will now go in to production. Rather than recycled wood pulp and tires, it will be made of silicone, but will still use 100% recycled materials.

+ At Dodson and Ross, there’s a discussion of whether to be or not to be monogamous.

+ Corrie Pikul answers sex questions about wet spots, wetness, blood and more.

+ Virgie Tovar talks with Golda Poretsky (respectively the editor and a contributor for Hot & Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love and Fashion) about online dating and being fat:

“I feel like I hear people talking about the flasher or husband they met on OkCupid all the time now – and not even in that hushed, unbearably blush-inducing tone either. I, like many fat girls all over the world, saw the radical romantic potential the Internet presented to us. And so I was what Malcolm Gladwell might call an “early adopter” (Malcolm, if you’re reading this please know that I will blow you anywhere, any time). On Craigslist I met a few boyfriends and bought some furniture too. On OkCupid I met one guy who wore coveralls all the time and used his cat to avoid intimacy. I learned to set boundaries, spot a liar, and lower my standards by literally orders of magnitude. Thanks, Internet.”

  1. Yay! Erica also drew DAR! which, IMO, is a great example of having romantic relationships with humans, regardless of gender. She dated women, married a man, and we were able to see how she matured and created a space where she felt most comfortable – I believe she id’s as queer. She doesn’t have to be this, that, or the other; just herself. Also, she’s one the contestant on Penny Arcade’s webcomic artist competition.

Sex, Penny Arcade, DAR, Autostraddle…If anything else that I love is thrown in the mix, I might explode from happiness.

  2. I’ve been waiting for months for Autostraddle to find/use that picture of GabiFresh (www.gabifresh.com and http://www.gabifresh.tumblr.com). It’s the third photo from the top. This picture is from her Valentine’s Day spread. She is so wonderful, super body positive, a great ally, and incredibly sexy. I’ve been an admirer of hers for a very long time, she has done a lot to help me get over my own insecurities about my body. Today was a great day! Thanks autostraddle!

  3. Yay – Virgin Airlines now makes it possible for me to receive creepy propositions and poor, unwanted attempts at flirting from men, thousands of metres in the air. How did you know.

    • I can only imagine how terribly this is going to go. As if flight attendants did not already have a hard enough job.

ON THE OTHER HAND. Hey girls going to A-Camp! Last chance to flirt with your camp-flings. Amiright?

  4. Whoa there- 3rd picture down is my friend. Can’t wait to tell her she’s been featured in NSFW Sunday!

  5. I really need to stop using my current username. Yep. Decided that today. (It’s not this one, hint)
