“I planned on dying alone. Then I realized how comfortable love could be.” At the Cut, Samantha Irby wrote about falling in love with her wife, commitment and how there is no perfect romance:

“We spend so much time believing that there is a perfect person out there waiting for us and that our life’s primary directive is to tirelessly hunt that person down until finally we catch them and convince them to fall in love with our “quirks.” Cue taking off our glasses to signify the start of a makeover montage, passionately kissing in an airport, and the part where we spend the rest of our lives gazing at them over a farmhouse sink and pristine marble countertops in a clean and sunny Nancy Meyers kitchen. Most couples haven’t come together at the end of a fairy-tale rainbow! I imagine most courtships are like “He went to law school with my brother and we like the same shows and the sex is fine; I guess I’ll die with him” and you know what? THAT’S GREAT.”

In an interview about her poetry collection Porn Carnival, Rachel Rabbit White discusses pleasure versus desire, why the best sex comes from overlapping fantasies, living your life like you’re the protagonist, and sex as self-expression:

“Sex can be a vehicle for self-expression and it can be a theater; sex doesn’t have to be serious, and sex can be anything. The most important thing I’ve learned is how to make boundaries a part of your seduction, your flirtation, an inherent part of your sex. I think that the first thing to realize to have a good relationship with pleasure is that enjoyment (the consumption of pleasure as a commodity) is not everything, that pleasure is not everything, that our sexuality and sexiness is not all that there is.”

  1. Ugh Santacon. They came in a few times when I was working at Noir Leather in Royal Oak, but we only got a few and were a little better equipped to repel them. We didn’t have a union but we did have carte blanche to use the impact toys on rowdy people.

  2. Natasha Stagg’s interview of Rachel Rabbit White is outstanding!

Highly recommended if you feel in the mood to toy with the idea of pleasure.

  3. Nope CES hasn’t learned their lesson. They even got Ivanka as their guest speaker. They can’t handle sex toys, but this is okay?
