No Filter: Jenny Owen Youngs Leads The Green Team To Victory

Welcome back to No Filter, the most academic regular column on all of Autostraddle dot com. This week, like every week, we will be dissecting the meaning behind the Instagram posts of some very famous, very goodlooking people who don’t care even a little bit what we think of their lives. Also, we’ll be thinking about their pets. This week, a few hours before this post, I met a person who has been behind some of the best cat posts of this whole column, which seems important enough to include:

Anyway, some actually famous people probably did something this week, let’s get to work!

Obligatory "I voted" post.

Your girlfriend Lena Waithe partook in the democratic process and wanted to share her excitement with you.

This dog is reacting to being kissed by Leisha Hailey the same way I would react to being kissed by Leisha Hailey.

Jen Richards is just killing it on every level.

End of the night. #fancyaf

Samira Wiley, feeling fancy.

Jenny Owen Youngs got real weird at A-Camp this year.

Ellen Page has started making fancy movies of her dog on Instagram, so that’s something.

Againts Me! played Webster Hall. Laura could have complained, but instead she took a picture, which was the right decision.

Just can’t stop thinking about Amandla Stenberg and how cool they are.

Here to populate the #butchballet hashtag.

  1. YOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I tired to sit alone at the HerStory viewing, but the cast sat right behind me! When Jen Richards called Laura Zak a dork I turned around and called her a dork, too!

    • THE CAST OF HERSTORY WAS AT CAMP ???

I’m getting sadder and sadder that I couldn’t come :'(

        • Fucking how were you Queer Girl!? Are we friends yet!? (you know we have to be out of camp solidarity)

          • You are so sweet! I was there…I’m way more shy IRL, but it was still a transformative experience for sure. I’ll friend you on FB :-)

  2. I feel like No Filter could just be that selfie of you and Tegan (or Sara?) from here on out, and I would not be mad.

  3. Next camp: Samira Wiley, please.

She can do a panel on…she can do a panel on whatever. On hanging with dachshunds. On being adorable under duvets. Oh, on acting. On learning to speak German for an entire episode. On SHOWING HER CHARACTER’S ENTIRE BABY-BIRD-BROKEN-HEART WITH ONE GLANCE.

Oh man, I watch that show for her at this point. (Way to make it weird, QG)

  4. Totally important journalism, thank you. I had been wondering who lead the green team to victory; because even though I tried to help my team my efforts were real small. Yay for Jenny!!!

  5. I hope more photos of camp celebs make it into future vapid fluff threads. Never too many camp photos.

    • Edit: no filter. Different than vapid fluff. Though, both are a pleasure to read.

  6. Gosh, do you want to know what I was wearing when I was Amandla’s age?

Long-sleeved collared shirts under American Eagle graphic t’s with frayed denim skirts. Maybe a trucker hat with my hair down or a toque with pig tail braids sticking out.
