Michelle Obama Doing Carpool Karaoke Is The Joy You Deserve Today

It has been such a brutal year that sometimes it’s hard to find any hope and joy in the world. But Michelle Obama is not giving up, not on this planet or on this country or on me and you. She hopped in the car with The Late Late Show‘s James Corden this week to do Carpool Karaoke, and it is one of the most delightful things I have ever seen in my life. I laughed, I sang, I got teary. And that was all before MISSY ELLIOTT got into the car too! You should watch this video. It is 14 minutes and 41 seconds of pure bliss.

Oh, Obamas, don’t go!

  1. I was watching this on the train today and kept laughing and tapping my foot and then showed it to my friend at a bar, shared headphones and all.
Let’s just say “Renaissance” (can this pretty please be her MC name?) made me regress into a jammin 15 year old.
In the very best of ways.

  2. I laughed so hard when Michelle was like, “He better be. That’s where he said he was.”

  3. remember when phoenix and i covered “get ur freak on” at a-camp for some horrible reason?
    it was… just like this

  4. I saw a bit of this on the French news and almost started crying because I want her to be First Lady forever!

    I’m a bit hormonal, yes, but STILL. <3 <3 <3 Michelle Obama

  5. Also, I love how she makes a point of wearing sleeveless clothing so we can swoon over her gorgeous arms.

  6. I know this was probably recorded several weeks ago but seeing Michelle Obama sing along to “Copywritten, so don’t copy me,” after the events of this week was particularly hilarious.

This whole thing brought me joy…and sadness that the Obamas’ time in the White House is coming to an end.

  7. Watched this on the bus this morning and actually cried. The kind of cry where you miss something before it’s gone and realize how good you had it.

  8. I’ve been talking to this girl on OkCupid, and she sent me the video. She gets extra brownie points.

  9. Watched this, loved it. Definitely made my week! I was dancing right along with them.

  10. And buying the recording as a way to fundraise for education of girls? How awesome is that???
