About Me

About Me

“Reexamine all that you have been told…dismiss that which insults your soul.” – Walt Whitman

Intellectually omnivorous violinist seeking intelligent adventurers with whom to laugh, alter paradigms (our own and others’), and share the little things that make life beautiful.

I’m shy. I take myself – and other things – just a touch too seriously, and I like it when you (lovingly, kindly) laugh at me. I love beautiful prose, proving to myself that I can do the things I thought I couldn’t do, and learning to love new things. I’m compulsively affectionate, and passionately appreciative of butches and female masculinity. And I probably want to cook for you. (Well, probs only if you live nearby. If I really like you I might mail you a vegan pastry, though.)

I just finished a graduate degree in violin performance, and I’m now about to embark on my next great adventure. In the meantime, I keep busy writing poetry, practicing mindfulness, rock climbing, and endeavoring to understand myself better every day. Which is to say, learning to let go. As Wendell Berry said, “It is not from ourselves that we learn to be better than we are.”

“I am riding on a limited express, one of the crack trains
of the nation.
Hurtling across the prairie into blue haze and dark air
go fifteen all-steel coaches holding a thousand people.
(All the coaches shall be scrap and rust and all the men
and women laughing in the diners and sleepers shall
pass to ashes.)
I ask a man in the smoker where he is going and he
answers: ‘Omaha.’ ”
