Mal Blum’s “Reality TV” Video Stars All Your Favorite People

If you were at this year’s A-Camp, you might’ve seen a preview of Mal Blum‘s new video for their new single “Reality TV,” a collaborative effort between Blum, directors Carly Usdin and Kip Reinsmith, genius artist Rory Midhani and director of photography Robin Roemer. The video utilizes Midhani’s whimsical backdrops and cardboard props as Blum whips through a melange of awkward situations – and it all happens in one shot. You might recognize some familiar A-Camp faces, like “Suicide Kale” stars Jasika Nicole, Lindsay Hicks and Brittani Nichols, Autostraddle contributors Ara Rodriguez Da Silva, Cee Webster, Liz Castle and Mary Tully, YouTube person Gaby Dunn, multiple comment award winner Monique Danser and a bear (played masterfully by Claire Savage).

The video features an all-queer cast and crew, which its creators are pretty damn proud of. Also, the song rips.

You Look A Lot Like Me is out now on Don Giovanni Records.

  1. Omg please always refer to me as “multiple comment award winner”. In return I’ll always refer to you as “Saint The Worst”.

  2. This is better than I ever could have imagined. Mal is one of my role models for living as a non-binary persons who experiences depression, and basically everything they do is magic to me.
