Holigay Playlist: Country Ladies Doing Christmas Right

feature image via Welcome to Ladyville2015 Autostraddle Holigays

2015 was the year I discovered that I’m a little bit country (in addition to being a little bit rock ‘n roll, of course). Thus, as part of my annual mission to grow my holigay tunes collection, I decided this year I’d go all out and put a little more twang into the season. I’ve assembled a best-of collection for you here, minus any song that isn’t exclusively by or predominately fronted by a woman — because, I mean, c’mon.

  1. This is so perfect.

(Also, seems relevant, my partner and I were driving through Tennessee over Thanksgiving and we passed a sign for Dollywood and I screamed and almost threw up from excitement.)

    • geneva and i totally intended to hit up dollywood when we went west, but alas, it was expensive and not that close to nashville. so we settled for only seeing graceland and not both, which is a bummer. ONE DAY ONE OF US WILL GET THERE!

  2. My usual Tuesday night gig is hosting karaoke night at SAGE (an LGBT senior support group). The other host loves country and is eager to do a holiday theme night, so this is just in time. :D

    • wait am i receiving a holiday card from you that will accompany said country feelings perfectly because I AM HERE FOR THAT ALAINA

  3. Dolly Parton: doing Christmas and just about everything else right since before most of us were born!
