Hi! I’m Carmen, not the famous writer from Autostraddle (perfect writer btw) but a queer, 30 year old industrial engineer from the Caribbean. I’m thinking about moving to Canada next year because rights (!!!!!). My idea is to study a Skilled Trade. That would mean changing careers (YEAH!! I hope i can do it so I can say FUCK YOU DESK JOB). In theory I would be throwing my career away but in practice I’d be gaining so much more because I’ve ignored my sexuality for so long it hurts and it’s basically because of who my family is and whatever. Could any Straddler living in Canada give me some advice about where to move or what skill to study and why? I have some money, I think enough to move but there’s always the fear to take the plunge. HELP!
