The Longboard Girls Crew in Madrid are badasses, and filmmaker Juan Rayos made a video about their badass-ery going down a mountain, and it’s beautiful.
I feel like this is the kind of video that usually has the label “empowering” attached to it because it has women succeeding in a domain that’s not a kitchen, feminism, etc. But this video is less about saying, “Girls can longboard, too” and more about saying, “We’re awesome, watch us go down this mountain really fast.” It makes me wish I had enough coordination to longboard/ do anything physical beyond moving my laptop from room to room. Summer goal!

I wanted to get into longboarding in the past but ended up not even getting one and my skateboard was rusted out at that point. So this is extra sweet. Awesome, thanks for sharing.
I watched this and was amazed and terrified at the same time. I kept getting scary flashes of going down the slight incline by my house and falling off my quad skates and breaking my arm again!

Yesss longboarding. I noticed that a high percentage of girls who longboard are also gay. Happy coincidence, hoping my longboard will help me get the laydeez haha. I even put an AS sticker on my board.
But srs though, longboarding is so much fun! I try to convert all my friends cause I love it so much. It’s my main mode of transportation around campus…I decided not to get a bike and just board instead. Best decision ever.
Love! My little brother and I totally thought we “invented” longboarding during one summer in Fortuna when we affixed wheels to one of our dad’s old surfboards!
Well this just put a big smile on my face for four minutes :D
I thought, “Longboarding European girls! Sweet!”
And then the Decemberists came on, and it was even sweeter.

Cute girls. I also love longboarding: It’s practical. I can go around in a longboard instead of using a car on some days. I’d like to see volleyball or baseball have some direct real life application (okay, the sports kind of have, you can run faster and whatnot but still! It’s different from longboarding’s practicality).
