GIVEAWAY: NewFest 2016’s Closing Night Lesbian Film And Party

It seems like just yesterday that I attended NewFest — New York’s LGBT Film Festival — and laid my eyes upon Carol for the first time. But no! It was an entire year ago! Since then, I’ve seen Carol in the theater six times, bought it on BluRay, began celebrating Carolmas instead of Christmas, and relayed the plot of the movie in real time to a very disgruntled passenger on a cross-country flight. NewFest changed my life, is what I am saying, and maybe it can change yours too? This time next year, you, too, could be the only reason Delta passengers know two women in a film smooshed their mouths together.

The 28th annual NewFest kicks off today in New York City and runs through next Tuesday, Oct. 25. In addition to Saturday’s screening of Suicide Kale (you can still get tickets, by the way!), NewFest also features So Yong Kim’s new film, Lovesong. And hey, guess what? We have four tickets (two tickets, each, for two winners) to give away to the screening of Lovesong on Tuesday night and the festival’s closing ceremony/afterparty.

Here are the details!

What:  Closing Night Film and Party of the 28th Annual New York LGBT Film Festival
When: Tues., October 25th at 8pm
Where: Cinepolis Chelsea

After the film, ticket holders are invited to continue the celebration with complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Closing Night Party at No.8 in Chelsea, featuring DJs The Carry Nation.

If you’d like to to win tickets, simply comment on this post. On Sunday, I’ll draw two winners and contact you via the email address listed in your Autostraddle member profile.

NewFest 2016 runs from October 20th – October 25th at the SVA Theatre, Cinepolis Chelsea, and The LGBT Community Center and presents over 100 premieres, parties, and panels that promote the best of queer cinema and shine a light on the LGBT experience!

Visit newfest.org for information on all films, panels, and events!

UPDATE: The winners have been drawn and notified by email!

  1. I’m so excited for NewFest! It’s not only my first time there but my first film festival ever! I’m seeing Heartland and Suicide Kale (and a bunch of Midwest A-Campers are meeting up to go together). If any of these movies create anything near the response that Carol had for me when I walked out of the Paris theater last winter it will be too much. I’d very much like to be considered for this giveaway. We hope to see you there Heather!

  3. Hi hello I would like to apply a) to attend this event and b) to attend any and all Carolmas celebrations that are open to the public plz.

  4. Hello, yes please! Also, I’m so willing to share one of the set of two tickets with another Autostraddler – the more random friends, the better.

  5. I’m so excited to see Suicide Kale on Saturday!!! And for our mini A-Camp reunion! I’d definitely love to go to the party too!

  6. Visiting from Alaska where my nearest theater is 2 hours away and in Canada :) needless to say not a lot of LGBTQ films shown in Whitehorse, Yukon so would love to get a ticket!

  7. Heather! I can’t believe they’re only playing Lovesong once during the festival and you have to pay $50 for a ticket? What a shame they’re not having an ordinary screening. I NEED to see these two actresses playing off each other. Been waiting for this one for ages.

    Cheers mate!

  8. This looks awesome! Please include me in the drawing. I only need one ticket, so I’m happy to share the other!

  9. Hey Heather!

I have been a fan of yours for years and I’m not just saying that because you might give me cool ass tickets. (Its only like 28% of the reason)

I just moved to Brooklyn and I would love to finally get to go to all the awesome gay NYC events that I always read about but of course once it is already over. I hope to start going to move events and supporting our community!

  10. My partner and I were just talking about a trip to the city…we’d love an extra gay reason to go!

  11. I’d love to go! Thought Riley Keough did a really good job on Jack & Diane, and The Girlfriend Experience. Looking forward to watching her in this film.

  12. Oh boy, this would be the first time I ever win anything if I got chosen! Thanks for this opportunity, Autostraddle!

  13. This is a great opportunity, not only to see this film but for this teacher (re: me) to possibly have a life on a week day.
