    This Sunday Funday is my birthday! I feel weird about this birthday, but I don’t know why. I’m in a better place now than any previous year – although my celebration last year was the Best. (Dubbed the Big Queer Vacation by my bff/nonsexual life partner.)

  3. I will attest I love my local queer cafe more than I love the gay bar. As written on this site, my local queer cafe is The Plant(Cuties) and it’s owned by a married couple(two queer women & of them is trans). That alone make it amazing by itself. Plus, the cafe hosts events like craft night(they even did let’s watch moonlight and do crafts), queers, donuts, and coffee, and healing circles all not centered on cis gay men. LA gay bars can’t really say that, it’s mainly gbq men focused.

    • I love my local LGBTQ coffee shop, too, @needlesandpin! I’ve spent countless hours there writing and working. They don’t have the very best coffee in town, but they do have a distinct lack of heterosexual people taking up space and that’s truly priceless!

      • I want a queer cafe too! That sounds so wonderful.

        I’m not a bar person for all the reasons named in the article (loud, too many people, not much of a drinker to begin with) and have never even been to a gay bar. Someday I will rectify that, I guess—but if there were a queer cafe in my area, on the other hand, I would already be there *right now.*
