Crystal’s Team Pick: The Vine’s Top 20 Music Articles of 2010

The Vine has compiled the top 20 music articles produced in 2010 and the selection is SO GOOD you guys, really, I recommend that you read every single article. Here’s Part One and Part Two.

The list features some brilliant pieces you may not have yet read, like Stephen Hayden‘s six-part series (so far) on the rise and fall of 90s alt. rock, ‘Whatever Happened To Alternative Nation‘ (@AVClub), which according to The Vine is “essential reading if you ever once gave half a shit about Pearl Jam, the Smashing Pumpkins, Live, Nirvana, or Liz Phair.”

Other noteworthy inclusions are ‘Joanna Newsom, The Changeling‘ (@nytimes) and ‘She Might Get Loud‘, novelist Gary Shteyngart‘s 7,000 word profile on M.I.A (@gq). Really the list’s only oversight is the absence of Alexandra Vega’s analysis of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” music video (@autostraddle).

ALSO I recommend bookmarking The Vine, they have stellar news, music, tv & film content.

  1. Amazing team pick. I love The Vine. Don’t worry, Autostraddle is still my number one bitch.

  2. As soon as I read this, I clicked on the link to Whatever Happened to Alternative Nation and spent the past 1.5 hours reading all five volumes. Can’t wait for the series to continue. Great team pick!
