“I don’t know if I properly stressed how awesome Nurse Jackie is when I wrote about the pilot last time, so let me clarify: THIS SHOW IS AWESOME. It’s amazing, seriously. The 2nd episode was even better than the first! Jackie is another example of a strong female role from a network who seems to specialize in strong female roles lately.”
“When time came for them to watch Top Model, which they did, I think they started seeing gayness in a normal and great light, because people liked me for that on the show. That was an attractive part of me on the show, it wasn’t anything embarrassing or perverted, and it was just a great thing. I think they started seeing me through the eyes of all the accepting people.”
“We want to write honestly, interact genuinely with as many of our readers as possible and only work with businesses & businesspeople who share our ethics & ideals and promote similar community values.”
” I’m not sick of lesbian jokes, I think they’re all true, and I love them. I love that if I wanted to walk around and not shave my legs and have a bad attitude, wear a belt buckle the size of a burrito, I could. I could, and that would be okay because people expect that of me, and I like that people expect that of me.”
“I don’t judge people, but at the same time, if they believe in what they believe, they have to accept me and what I believe. But I accept anybody as they come. That’s my character and my personality.”
All Tegan & Sara have eaten today is a plum! That’s it! Just one plum!
“Happy Monday, my beauties! Its me, Robin, your resident photoblogger, here to enchant you with a delightful gaze into some iconic imagery of our lesbionic history.”
“I once made a mix cd for a girl that I was in love with, only I didn’t know I was in love with her. It consisted of several amazing tracks, I’m sure, but the only two I can remember right now are “She’s So High Above Me” by Tal Bachman and “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer. I drop hints like bombs. BOOM!”
Let’s have a round for androgyny
Ilene continues to talk about writing The L Word movie while speaking to large audiences in public, hoping to retain her small bulb of power, maintain our attention. Kate Moennig says Season Two is her favorite. Also she loves True Blood and has a new movie in November.

Is writing harder for women? What’s Shane doing in Monte Carlo? Will the gays win the dream wedding contest? How much money will Connecticut make from New York’s anti-equality legislation? Why are gay women segregated in jail? Why ask why? Go to SamRo’s!
“Upon hearing that I’m not a regular, she is quick to whip out some Sly lesbian folklore; her ex-girlfriend alleges she once saw Ruby Rose and Jess Veronica make out in the very spot that we were standing. Her ex was probs also at Woodstock.”
“The Tony Awards aired on Sunday night, and not only were they gayest thing on TV all week, they were probably the gayest thing on TV ever.” Leisha Hailey’s on Maneater and Carly makes her roommate watch for her, Showtime debuts Nurse Jackie and the new season of Weeds, SYTYCD gets dykey haircuts.

Something about Amanda’s music brings out the wide-eyed teenage fangirl in me; I haven’t felt this way about a singer since I was 12 and Shirley Manson told me she was only happy when it rained.
We thought this would be easier — the hardest part, we imagined, would be coming up with just ten. Surely if we thought really hard, wikipedia’ed (we expected a “lesbian characters in plays” list of some sort to appear … it did not), checked out the glbtq encyclopedia and googled some shit, we’d be rushing to narrow down the contenders by Sunday afternoon. I mean, there’s Maureen & Joanne from RENT, to start with. And then … um.
If I were to make a list of television characters that disappeared without explanation, Papi would be on it.
“In a number of the photos released by Britney’s management, a heavy-set older man in a white, sleeveless working man’s vest can be seen hovering in the background. That’s her father, Jamie Spears, who took complete legal control of her life last year. It’s he who has the whip hand in Britney’s life now.”
Because we’ve been serious at the Roundtable for the last two weeks, we went easy on ourselves this week and asked what song makes you jump up and scream OMG THIS IS MY JAM! at the club? You know, the club? Where all the girls go to get down?
