Brittani’s Video Party: Three Love Stories and an Otter

Greetings. This is Brittani’s Video Party, where I bring some of the “best” videos from all over my internet together so we can clap, cry or deconstruct. Have you ever gotten to a video and it already has 33 million views and you wonder where the heck have you been? Well I’m here to help you so that you see it when it only has 32 million views. Aim low, world. Aim low.

Now that Valentine’s Day is over and you’re done rolling your eyes into the back of your head, it’s time to hit you in the feelings. RIGHT WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT. The Devotion Project is a series documenting the love shared between LGBTQ couples. Foremost in My Mind features Gail Marquis and Audrey Smaltz. Audrey is a hilarious former model and business owner and Gail is a retired professional basketball player turned businesswoman. I went into this video fully expecting not to care because bleh people being cute and in love, etc. but it was hard not to get caught up in their story and charisma. Now I wish Audrey was my personal pose consultant and Gail was my life mentor.

Henry by Yan England is nominated for Best Short Film-Live Action this Oscar season. You should watch this because the music is dope if you like violins and shit or you like bawling your eyes out. I won’t tell you how to live your life.

Ok, are you back? Are you done crying? Let’s ease back into real life with this sea otter that can play basketball. Nay, dunk a basketball. This otter from the Oregon Zoo needs to exercise his arthritic elbows and his trainer instinctively knew the cutest way to do this would be ‘teach the otter basketball.’ Water Bud may not have the same ring to it as Air Bud but I’d still watch it in two seconds.

The Couple, a popular web series about what the in and outs of a relationship can be like without the pretense returned for its second season. Thanks to its loyal fan base, the series raised over $32,000 in October to fund a film based on the show. Past guest stars include Issa Rae (Awkward Black Girl) and Chelsea Peretti (Parks and Recreation, The Sarah Silverman Program).

  1. nope i didn’t just bawl my eyes out. my contacts flowed out of them because of all the rain on my face.

  2. Ok so the Sea Otter has been my fave animal since I was 6 and came back to school from having the flu and it was the only animal left for the ocean unit and I was all “the joke is on you, I would’ve picked it anyway.” So I basically love it when they do anything, but BASKETBALL!? I’m done. There is no better animal. (plz don’t tell my dog)

  3. The teaser on the homepage read “THE couple meets their match” and I just assumed it was a story about Robin and Carly…

  4. I wish I could watch these video’s, i’m sure they’re amazing, but right now I have to write 5 pages about the historical significance of Martin Luther being a rebel and going against the Roman Catholic Church.

  5. The Oregon Zoo is indescribably amazing. The otters have always been in the top two of my favorite animals there. Number one is the swamp monkeys because until I about 10, every time I went to the zoo and got to their exhibit at least a few of them would run up to the glass. I never saw them do it for other people, I’m sure they did but they just made me feel so special. So the otters are number two but this video makes me wonder if they should be #1.
