Brittani’s Video Party: Things We Might Miss on the Mountain

Greetings. This is Brittani’s Video Party, where I bring some of the “best” videos from all over my internet together so we can clap, cry or deconstruct. Have you ever gotten to a video and it already has 33 million views and you wonder where the heck have you been? Well I’m here to help you so that you see it when it only has 32 million views. Aim low, world. Aim low.

When you’re on a mountain for days at a time with shotty cell phone service, no internet and no need to acknowledge that there are places not run by boot-clad queers, you miss a thing or two. This video party is all about the things those of us on Mt. Feelings will have to catch up on after the fact but that you can still enjoy from the comfort of your own home/office/school library/coffee shop.

The news: I actively avoid the news since it is depressing and dampens the hell out of my mood. If it’s something super important, it’s hard to miss anyway since it takes over Facebook and Twitter. Most of the news I enjoy will find me via a viral video of an on-scene interview or someone on YouTube will talk about it. That’s how I find out that Yahoo is buying Tumblr.

Non-queer women: They exist and they won’t be on the mountain. Some of our favorite women aren’t queer. I know we’re usually pretty bummed out about it but I think they are probably sadder about it than even us. I’m just saying if there was a gay pill, I can think of a few women we all adore that would hop in that line. Let’s speculate who would together. I’m going to put a video of Amy Schumer here because though she may not be a well-known queer fave, she is aggressively straight. And I think this video is funny.

Film and TV: Arrested Development is hitting Netflix while we’re on the mountain. It’s truly a tragedy. Luckily for us, most television shows have finished up their seasons and the summer block hasn’t gotten going yet. In movie news, the trailer for Blood Ties just dropped. The film reunites Mila Kunis and Zoe Saldana whom worked together during After Sex. There’s also been a ton of news about Saldana’s confusing comments on her own sexuality. I guess we’ll know how convinced we all are when the votes for next year’s Hot 100 come in.

YouTube: This probably pertains to me more than anyone else seeing as I run a column about videos. It’s Comedy Week on YouTube. Can you believe it? Of all the weeks. I think we all know no one appreciates comedy more than lesbians.

If you have a video you think everyone should see, tweet it to @bishilarious for consideration. And of course feel free to post your favorite videos from the week below.

Actually, she's probably doing all three of those things concurrently and when she's not doing THAT, she's sleeping. 1. Not gonna lie, I found a bench at camp where I got 3g and watched the first ep of the new season of arrested development. When my cabin found out there were both, not amused and jealous.
