Awkward Black Girl is Back, Still Awkward

Brittani’s Team Pick:

Guess what’s back! My seasonal allergies, not the McRib, and “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl!” The first season of the Issa Rae created webseries was such a huge success that it’s now hosted on Pharell‘s youtube channel. I bet he caught wind that Riese likes the series so he snatched it right up. If you’ve never seen the show, go watch the first episode right now.

That's a gay smirk

If you watched the first season, you’ll be glad to know the second season is officially in swing. I don’t want to spoil anything but there might be a woman that very much enjoys the company of other women this season (played by Giselle Ramirez). And by might be I mean definitely yes. Worth mentioning–the music is as ridiculous as ever. Check out “The Sleepover” below.

  1. B*tch you got MODID! mmmhmmm!!!
Kinky-twisted Kracken – I need to find a way to incorporate this in my vocabulary

    also, receptionist girl is HAWT

  2. Wooooow. So happy to see ABG featured here. Shit is awesome for awkward girls of ALL COLORS.

  3. love the perspective on the awkwardness of thinking someone is gay when they aren’t!
at an old job (…that I kept for a week), a bunch of new employees were talking and a guy asked myself and another girl why we went to a women’s college. she answered “because I’m a lesbian!” and I already thought she was a lesbian actually, so I laughed, said “fuck yeah” and held my fist out for a bump. She was more of a ignorant young thing than awkward, so she physically stepped away from me horrified but WHATEVER, choosing to think of everything mortifying as hilarious is the best decision I ever made.

  4. “Three weekaversary”! Ha ha. Poor pathetic white Jay. I also love the constant inner monologue. Thanks for sharing!

    • omg the part in the last season where she is imagining what Jay is doing to deal with his anger towards her? Might be the funniest thing ever.

      • …and the music! “Take my panties off baby, take my panties off… I’mma take ’em off girl, I’mma take ’em off…” It’s so clichĂ© that it’s just, I literally thought of the group, Three Six Mafia with that song… it makes me want to open up Reason Propellerheads and make my own dumb shit. *dies with you*

  5. I can’t express how much I love this show. I only have one other friend who watches it, though, so I can’t be all DID YOU SEE IT OMG nearly as much as I would like.

  6. After I read this post I re-watched all of season 1, the season 2 promo, and the premiere. I may or may not know all of the freestyles >_>

  7. Haha, glad to hear ABG is back. She’s so awkward and awesome. The music is definitely ridiculous, especially the erm, rap at the end.

  8. “Call Jesus for help.” Oh god, I laughed hard at J’s awkward reaction.

Words cannot express how much I’ve missed this show.
