I just finished Venus Envy by Rita Mae Brown. 389 pages. Frazier is in the hospital dying and decides that after a lifetime of lying, she should die an honest person, so she writes letters to everyone she knows telling them what she really thinks of them and also coming out to them. BUT THEN, it turns out she’s not really dying.

There was a lot of dialogue and not a lot of real conflict. A lot of people yell at Frazier for being a lesbian but she basically just rolls her eyes at them and goes to talk to someone else. There’s a part where she’s attacked and it’s kind of glossed over. BUT it made me laugh out loud a few times and toward the ending it gets MAGICAL. I feel like it could’ve been better but it was entertaining enough. @internrachel @julia1

    • She was a really fun character. Also I forgot to mention the line “If a woman’s afraid to be called a lesbian, she’s afraid to be a woman.” which I really liked.
