Map of Ireland by Stephanie Grant is set in Boston in the 1970’s and deals with coming out and race issues from the perspective of a teenage girl. I watched The Weather Underground documentary not too long ago which turned out to be great historical context for this book.

I just watched The Christine Jorgenson Story–it’s about the very first Transwoman. It was awesome because I’m so into LGBT rights but I feel like sometimes the Ts get left out. It was really cool to get a better perspective on that! Seriously great documentary.

I just finished The Bride of Catastrophe by Heidi Jon Schmidt and Homeschooling by Carol Guess. Relationships with (crazy) girlfriends. Relationships with (crazy) neighbors. Relationships with (crazy) families. All these things are included.

Currently juggling: Embassytown, China Mieville; Thirty-Three Teeth, Colin Cotterill; White Mughals, William Dalrymple; and the Diamond Sutra, Red Pine edition.

Since the summer book club ended, I’ve cut back on my reading because so much stuff has come up. But I haven’t stopped entirely!
