Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 4 months agoHey I remember there was a conversation once on the main site about how it would would be cool to see someone recap Buffy as they’re watching it for the first time, and I just ran across something like that: “the hat rack.” It’s gonna be recapped season-by-season.
I also learned from reading the comments that there’s a podcast where 3 people…[Read more]

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 4 months agoShould I read the buffy comics? I have never read a comic before so I am a little unsure but I heard they were pretty good.
-
Yes. Make sure you read Fray, too, before you get to issue #16.
-
fray is one of my favorites. it’s a one-shot and it’s superb.
-
I don’t think it can be considered a one-shot though? It’s a 4 issue story arc in season 8(“Time of Your Life”) and then before that there was the 8-issue series/graphic novel.
Speaking of one-shots, I don’t think I ever got to read the Willow one-shot.

-
Fray is frickin awesome, so I’d definitely recommend that. I’m conflicted on the Buffy comics. They’re really good, but a few things recently have made me cranky. I can enjoy them more if I consider them non-canonical.

We Love Documentaries 12 years, 4 months agoDid anyone watch the Two Spirits thing that was on PBS last night? Super powerful documentary about the Navajo belief about trans* people and the murder of a teen boy who was two spirited.
-
I heard about that one. Have yet to watch about a billion docs, but definitely added to the list.
-
I stayed up late watching the Doping For Gold episode of Secrets of the Dead and then stayed up even later when this came on right after it. I agree, it was really powerful, and I found the history behind Two Spirits to be fascinating. Fred’s story really broke my heart. His mom had me crying, especially at the end.
-
I was a faucet by the end. When his mother was talking about the dream she had… It was too much.
-
-
I DVR’d it, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it yet. I know I’m going to cry A LOT.
