*tentatively says “hello”* who am i kidding. online is sooo much more comfortable than in person. i’m sure i’d be uncomfy with this if confronted, but i’d also probs keep my eyes down and find some way to prevaricate/get out of the conversation as soon as possible! *hates confrontation*
-
just so y’all know, i wasn’t being rhetorical. i really do have social anxiety & it’s so very hard to get up in front of groups/be in public, but i have to for my job. i do hate confrontation, though…maybe that’s why i let my mean boss be mean to me. :( anyone want to talk meds? i’ve finally found a combo that seems to work for me. & thank…[Read more]

In the last couple years I’ve come to think that it’s very likely that I have a social anxiety disorder (or possibly an anxiety disorder in general), but no insurance so I haven’t gotten it checked out. But a part of my job involves being in front of people too and it’s excruciating. I’m also very conflict avoidant and yet picked a career that…[Read more]

i was lucky (?) enough that my crisis moment came in college and i was able to go to a counselor and doctor on campus. the school paid for it. i’m very aware how lucky i am to have access to medication and mental health professionals (have insurance through work). the MHPA has made it even easier for me, though, cause it was still hard to make p…[Read more]

me too–although I’ve found that toughing through my social anxiety for work stuff is a lot easier than trying to deal with it in actual social situations.
-
I feel you. Sometimes I wonder if I’m really an introvert or just miserably socially anxious. With work/school stuff there’s a goal to reach, but with people I’m always convinced there’s no point, they’ll just hate me anyway. : /
-
yes. it’s like “doing it for the greater good” almost. in social situations, it’s too easy to let one’s self off the hook (not feeling up to it/uncomfy/not my scene & the hundreds of other reasons we employ).

I know how you feel. I was on meds for mine till I had to stop taking them because they gave me mood swings which sucked. Plus, moving to a new place certainly didn’t help.
-
some of my meds caused that. the doc worked with me to adjust and change to different type (it’s not usually good to just stop taking them). there’s still a chemical imbalance and that’s what the medicine is addressing. (from my totally experiential, not a doctor, point of view)

Doctor Whovians 12 years, 6 months ago@Emmalemma: I think waiting a week would be good, just for those who can’t watch it right away. We can talk generalities, but no particulars.

Doctor Whovians 12 years, 6 months agothe reply box thing isn’t working, but i think maybe if we give it 1-2 weeks after the airing of particular episodes to discuss particulars, that might be okay? What do you guys think? @however

Doctor Whovians 12 years, 6 months agoI dunno if y’all are interested, but TeeFury is this site that has one shirt for sale each day, and they only sell that shirt for one day. There’s a ton of Doctor Who Shirts, and until 9pm PST there’s a ‘The Angels Have the Phonebox” shirt.
I got two doctor shirts from there. They also do other gaming/ tv-cult tees. -

how many people out there are obsessed with getting achievement points/trophies??
Lately I’ve been going little crazy with that and, with Gamefly’s help, my gamerscore has been significantly inflated-
It depends on the game (so at times yes), but usually I don’t worry too much about trophies/achievements. I will say though that even when I’m not concerned about earning them, when it pops up that I got a trophy I get a little thrill of accomplishment. I’ve never really thought about it, but now I think maybe that’s silly.
-
I really want to get Portal 2 so I can get all the achievements! I played it on my brother’s gaming PC and I’ve been pining for it since he headed back to college :(

Anyone play League of Legends? I could so use some badass queer ladies to add to my friends list since the rest of it thinks that “faggot” is an appropriate thing to call someone when they KS.
-
Ooh, I don’t play, but my partner is CRAZY about this game!
-
What’s your summoner ID? I’m still feeding the bots at level 10, but I’m game if you want to play sometime.
-
Tami – tell your partner to add me if ze/she/he wants! My ID is scattered.
hoi polloi – My ID is the same as on here – add me! I’m lvl 23 atm but I’ll totally party with you. I don’t play super often cuz my work schedule is ridic right now, but if you see me on msg me!
