….it says Nightstand…..so we’re not talking about what’s in the bed, stacked at the foot of the bed, or between the bed and the wall. nothing’s under the bed because the mattress is on the floor.

ohh those coveted Nightstand spots. You’re either an Old Favorite or have exceptionally silky paper or we’ve just met or i want to have you close to me without compromising your structural integrity.

ada or ardor –> vladimir nabokov / rommel drives on deep into egypt –> richard brautigan / potential –> ariel schrag / novelization of Aliens by alan dean foster / married on mondays –> honeyB/ and apparently the hot brunette from Pacific Palisades cowrote a racy novel called Soapsuds. that’s there too.

    • i have a perpetual rotation from bed to nightstand so i included my 2 that are in current movement. my actual full nightstand stack is over a foot high… not sure if that is a good or bad thing… (other than the nabokov i don’t know the other books you listed– any good?)

      • that’s the thing about the Nightstand; there’s always some unknowns that are there just because they’re next in the queue! normally i get into crazy compulsive ruts with the authors i like and it takes me forever to branch out. sometimes i’ll think this is really v. bad sooooo.

the honeyB is my foray into the romance novel genre. it takes place in a city called Creme city [population 6.9 million]and the ladies run a “Creme” bakery by day and “Creme Fantasyland,” a private brothel-sex-therapy type place in the late afternoon-evening. i’m not gonna lie, it was the bakery that sold me. there’s a surprisingly good amount of excellent non-bakery breakfast descriptions going on.

rommel–> about 10 years ago had a huge crush on this aussie lady’s lj. one day she was asking anybody if they’d want to do some sort of booktrade and she was offering allllll this v.n. in exchange for ONE brautigan. and i thought who the hell is this guy. found a 3 in 1 of his in the school library where the card catalog said he’d be but there was NO LIBRARY MARKINGS. they let me take it out anyway though, and i never brought it back. fell so hard! rommel is one of his poetry books I JUST FOUND and had never read before. some of it’s hard to find, especially in those sexy slim oh so ready to ride in the waistband of your pants paperbacks.

recently on one of my customary t&s interweb stalkings i saw Tegan recommended those A.S. graphic novels heartily/was yelling in caps about the artist/author stealing her life story, so i just ordered one. especially liked the way she drew the characters when they’re drunk/high. loved the dialogue.

love Alien, loved Aliens, love Ripley, and this is a really good novelization.

haven’t touched soapsuds, but i’m so going there, probably tonight. because i want to feel closer to finola hughes. i guess the main character makes it big playing a lesbian detective and is really wanting to find a way to come out as a heterosexual on the show. so.

i want to know more about the actual full nightstand stack. name some names!!

        • YOU NEVER TOOK IT BACK??!? the horror!! jkjk — i think i am in training to say that or something library school blahblah…

          names named:
          kissing the limitless
          baby remember my name
foundations of library and information science
the 2nd issue of t(our) magazine
          bang it out
when i am an old woman i shall wear purple

hmmm… i feel like that says more about me than anything i could type from my own brain…

          • it was meant to be mine and you know it!!!! my god. i used to work in a rare book dept. of a company and x-libris markings [though necessary] were the bane of my existence.

[definitely gave me some ideas about perforating everyone in my home library with my first, middle, confirmation, and Last, though.]

            • true story– some things are just meant to be… like the copy of “the last unicorn” on vhs i “accidentally” didn’t return to blockbuster when i was 9 and still have… even though i bought it on dvd 10 years ago…

              • aghhhhh! i no longer have a functional vcr!! do you?!

                • ummm… lolz i only realize no, i don’t, when you asked… i am pretty sure my parents do… someone somewhere must… (this is probably why i ended up getting the movie on dvd– it is just following my own destiny that allowed me to keep it on vhs, for, umm, years since i last had an actual vhs player)
