Hello tarot friends! I’m finally set up enough after a move to have found and unpacked my cards and set up a small reading space. I also had a birthday, which means I bought myself two new decks: the Nomad Tarot and the Golden Tarot of Klimt. I also realized that if the thing I want to do for myself on my birthday is buy myself $60 of tarot cards,…[Read more]

    • Followed! The golden tarot of klimt was actually my first deck. lots of memories there :)

    • So I’m super delighted/surprised because the Nomad deck was created by a really good friend of mine! SMALL WORLD. Congrats on a totally wonderful purchase; a lot of love went into that deck! Also, it’s a relief to know that other humans buy themselves birthday presents. That’s an important part of the birthday ritual, in my opinion.

Hey guys! I was working on my journal exercises this morning, and I pulled the same card twice for two different purposes. I was so worried the second time, I didn’t know if I had shuffled badly and needed to do it again, or if this was totally cool, I should go where the deck wanted me to go. I ended up going with it, and the reading I gave…[Read more]

    • I haven’t gotten that exact situation before, but I’ve definitely had cards repeat across readings in a way that seemed improbable. I think go for it! If you know you’ve shuffled adequately, and the reading makes sense, it sounds kosher to me.

    • I have this happen sometimes if a card is kind of the theme of my life at the time, or if it’s something I need to do that I keep ignoring.

Hey all! Anybody ever have a reading that just seems off? Sometimes the cards are really on and clear, and sometimes I have to ponder over them before stuff clicks, and then every once in a while, a reading just feels weird (the cards don’t seem to make sense in the positions they’re in, don’t feel like they connect with the situation, etc). Often…[Read more]

    • That definitely happens to me, too. I usually try to take it as a challenge to examine the situation in a new light – almost like a game to relate two unrelated things. But to be honest, more often than not, that doesn’t really bring about any great insights. At that point I just shrug, say “screw it,” and forget about it. My personal view of…[Read more]

      • Cool, thanks! Yeah, sometimes I guess it’s a good exercise in mental gymnastics, or a way to try to look at something from a really different perspective, and maybe sometimes you just put the cards away for the day. :)

Most of my tarot journaling has been writing up my readings or writing about specific cards, but over the past few weeks I’ve been doodling some of my favorite cards and wanted to share them (especially because they are all ladies – and, in my mind, all queer)! A disclaimer for the sake of my dignity first: I am definitely not an artist, and the…[Read more]

I just started learning tarot and created a Tumblr blog as a journal of sorts. I would love to know of others! Here’s my url: danaedoestarot.tumblr.com :)

I remember a few people here having or starting tarot blogs, but I’m having a hard time finding the posts in here. I’m thinking of starting one, and I wanted to see what site folks are using and find people to follow! So, remind me – who’s out there? :)

I’m still here! (Anyone? Hello?) And it’s a little late, but here’s the 6 of Swords! I’ve changed it up a little, now with the decks I use most frequently, so from L to R it’s the RWS and the Deviant Moon.

For me, the 6 of Swords is about leaving a turbulent or troubled past behind you, but moving on to a much better future. I believe the Herbal…[Read more]

    • I don’t have any decks unpacked to take photos of, unfortunately, but I’ve always thought of this card as being about trauma and recovery; “moving on” or “getting over it.” I like that the Deviant Moon seems to reinforce that idea. I think the fact that the RWS card has multiple people in it — some of whom are just sitting and wrapped in robes w…[Read more]

    • Love the DM image here!

And Rachel, I really like what you said about trauma and recovery. That’s going to go in my mental notes. <3

    • So I did a write up on the 6 of Swords from my Housewives deck. Rachel, you inspired me with your comments. It’s posted on tumblr, but i’m copying it here too. :-)

When I pulled out this card from the Housewives, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s very different, but I like it. The swords are represented by paring knives and the woman is wal…[Read more]

      • this is great, and thanks for your mention, Potter! i’m glad that discussion was helpful for you!

So it’s past my bedtime and all that jazz, but I wanted to share this spread I put together today. I have the full write up on my tumblr HERE, and I did a practice run with it (still sitting on my desk!) that I’ll type up tomorrowish. A tumblr friend already did it (!!!) and was super enthusiastic about it, my heart is so full. Anyway, here it is.…[Read more]

    • I just wanted to say that I tried Potter’s Pride spread myself and LOVED IT. It’s a very well thought out spread and personally gave me a lot of constructive stuff to work with!

    • Here’s the reading I did with Potter’s spread:

      1. Passion – The Sun
      2. Strength – Nine of Cups
      3. Expression – Three of Swords (Yes, I do have some issues expressing my identity, thanks deck.)
      4. Growth – Ten of Wands
      5. Peace – The Empress
      6. Community – Knight of Cups
      7. Protection – The Fool.

In short, my passion is feeling free and…[Read more]

      • Pretty sure I said this on tumblr, but love this. thank you. <3

I got the Empress for Community on my last run through (with queer/gay as my ID)! And the Devil was my significator, which I'm still working out.

hey friends! i haven’t been hanging around here much because i’ve been packing for a big move. But in the process of trying to organize my stuff pre-move and put everything I own into boxes, I was super excited to find that this old cigar box just managed to perfectly fit all of my decks and my little personal tarot-book-in-progress. It’s a little…[Read more]

    • Very nice! I need something like this. So I see the RWS and maybe the Collective Tarot in here. Mind sharing the names of the other decks?

      • The deck on the top left is the Transformational Tarot by Arnell Ando, which I got recently and (for the most part) like a lot. The tiny deck in the lower lefthand corner is actually just another RWS, but a miniature size that I sometimes find easier to shuffle and/or transport! (The thing with the golden circles isn’t a deck, just my notebook.)

    • Yay! That’s perfect :) So nice to have a special place to keep yr cards.

And good luck with your move Rachel!
