Lesbrarians 8 years, 2 months agoHi folks! I’m a former page/circ clerk/doer-of-things in libraries… After eight years of it I’ve stepped away for a bit to do other things, but the thought of getting an MLIS is never totally lost!

The Great Library of Autostraddle 8 years, 2 months agoI’m putting together a queer reading list for myself. I finished “oranges are not the only fruit,” and “Rubyfruit jungle,” and I just started “the well of loneliness.” Post your reading recommendations if you have them, I wanna read everything :)

I just read it. Its… light(?) but it ends happily. I related to the parts of it that weren’t zooming round the states in a canvas topped car :)-
Ah, yes, thank you! I need to read that one before the movie adaption hits theaters. I’m glad to hear it ends happily, to many lesbian stories don’t.

I love being a librarian, but there are so many other cool things you can do in the library without a degree– I have co-workers that basically get paid to play with tech + teens for a living and only have a HS diploma. If you’re worried about debt (I went on a scholarship and don’t have any loans anymore) maybe find a cool niche for yourself that…[Read more]
Oh, it’s not the debt so much as that I’m not ready to go back to school or settle down with a “real” job yet. But someday!
I found my MLIS easier than my undergrad–if that makes any difference in the future! No pressure, though, because the job market can be brutal regardless (I work outside of libraries at the moment)
