Yo folks, so I created this group and then totally forgot about it – oops! I’m an RPCV who served in Namibia, 2007-2009. I was a science education volunteer, meaning I mostly taught science but also helped with the school choir, the library, the computer lab, the English club, etc., etc…Oh! And I also helped chair camp GLOW (Girls and Guys Leading Our World). It’s a youth leadership camp; I think it was started in Romania by PCVs there but it’s spread to a bunch of countries – any of you heard of it?
Anyway, I didn’t come out to any HCNs while I was serving – I thought about it a couple of times, but it never seemed quite right. I was out to all my fellow volunteers, though – and maybe to some staff? I actually can’t remember if I was out to the PCMOs, although I think not, since my complete lack of sexual activity made it irrelevant :)
And now…I’m a graduate student studying chemistry and doing research on fuel cells, because once you start wanting to save the world, you just can’t stop!
