    Any love from Tacoma?

    • Yep, Tacoma here!

      • Glad to hear it! Still getting around this site. Seems like a great place to meet new friends. You a Tacoma native, or a transplant?

        • I grew up in a small(ish) town in Snohomish county north of here, but I went to college in Tacoma. Afterward I graduated, I actually moved around the country quite a bit, but now several years later, I’m back here again! Tacoma really feels like home to me since I did so much growing here. It sometimes gets a negative reputation compared to Seattle, but I really think it has a lot to love: Point Defiance, Ruston Way, Commencement Bay, the views of Rainier… :) (I really want one of those 253 heart stickers!) What about you? Tacoma native?

          • That second sentence should say *after I graduated…

            • Tacoma native! I’ve lived all over the area. Puyallup, Vashon Island, Lakewood, Federal Way, etc. Lived for a while in southern California, but keep coming back to Tacoma. I love the pockets of beauty among the urban sprawl. Driving up N 21st street when the sun is rising looking at the old houses, UPS campus in the fall, getting lost in Point Defiance, how amazing the Sound is in the summer. It’s just so perfect in it’s own weird way. Don’t get me wrong, I love Seattle (and Portland, honestly), but Tacoma is where my heart is.

That may be a little sappy, but it’s late, and I regret nothing!

            • Yes. I completely feel you on everything you just wrote. The Pacific Northwest feels like home to me, but especially this city.

Getting lost in Point Defiance is just lovely. It’s funny, the other day, I was driving down the road to Owen beach through the tall moss covered trees, and then I saw Rainier towering over the water, and I thought “Beaches don’t need to palm trees to be paradise!” And I also love taking a beach walk around the point at low tide, starting at Owen beach and ending up at the salmon district.

And then there’s Titlow Park and Dash Point state park (though I think that’s technically Federal Way?). And all the charming architecture of downtown and the stadium district. And Rainier turning pink in the sunset. My apartment is close to Wright Park, and it’s just been gorgeous watching all the trees in the arboretum change with the seasons. I could go on… Yes, Tacoma has a place in my heart too. (I can be sappy too :) )

    • Yeah

    • Super late on this one, but Tacoma here!
