Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 6 months ago@Erda: YES, what bookbound said, Zoe all the way! I loves me some Gina Torres but especially as hard-ass, stoic Zoe.

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 6 months ago@Erda: Kinda surprised no one’s said Zoe yet. She’s such a badass! “I can hurt you.”
Although really I just love the whole gorram cast of Firefly/Serenity.

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 6 months ago@Ash – reply button stopped working for me here, too:
I like all the characters, I just find the Tam siblings’ story to be the most interesting. And I suppose I see a lot of myself in Simon: very nerdy and good at academics, but often lacking “common sense,” and HOPELESS at talking to people I find attractive. His scenes with Kaylee are the…[Read more]

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 6 months agoThe reply button is not working for me, so this is a reply to Erda’s favorite Firefly character-
Attraction Wise- Kaylee as she’s kind of that femmy nerdy girl, though, all of the ladies are easy on the eyesPurely on a Character Level: Simon as he reminds me of my brother, a lot. That driven genius who is dense common sense wise yet at the same…[Read more]

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 6 months agoFavorite Firefly character…go!
I would say Simon and Inara because I thought both of them were really hot (yeah I’m bi, so what?) Which is totally a legitimate reason. Also the assistant conductor for the choir at my school looks and talks just like Simon.
-
Zoe because she is super hot and kicks ass.
-
KayLee: adorable, knows her engines, and keeps her girl in the air!
-
River. Because she can kill you with her brain.
Also Mal, because he’s adorable. And Inara. And Kaylee. And Wash. Basically everyone. My favorite non-main character would prolly be Saffron.
-
River. Especially when she’s with Book.
-
Captain Malcolm Reynolds
-
Yeah River is one of my favorites as well, though she wasn’t the first time I saw the show. I feel like I had to see her whole story before I could fully appreciate her.
-
River. She made me realize I like the ladies, like, more than friends. =P

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 6 months agoJust thinking about all the main actors from Firefly who have played the worst villains on other Whedon shows. I think it amplifies their impact on me, looking just like another character I happen to adore. Seeing beloved Firefly characters as absolute cretins is at once delightful and disturbing.

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 6 months agoHuge, huge Firefly fan. Was just re-watching Serenity (the pilot episode, not the movie – though I love that too) today in the middle of studying for finals. I’ve been told I need to get into Buffy too but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
-
Buffy is absolutely brilliant. There was a lot of camp in the first season, but it starts getting straight up awesome in the second season. So, so good.
-
seconded. and, as a whedon fan AND as a queermo ladytype, you should get on the buffy train doublequick and post haste. it’s all on netflix. get on it.
-
I’m doing a full Buffy watch from the beginning because I was a late adopter, and Firefly was my gateway Whedon drug too. Buffy’s funny, but the ever-present monster/vampire fighting knocks it down below Firefly levels of awesome IMO.
-
But the monsters are metaphors for life! (Sometimes.)
-
Except the vampire slaying and monster killing actually makes it better because you can’t just fly around the ‘verse and pretend you are stealing things from a stupid government, but you can walk around in a graveyard at night with a wooden stake pretending to patrol…
