Straddlers of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and those who wish they were 12 years, 2 months ago Oh hay gay ladies of Taipei. I just got back to Taiwan from the states and will be around until next March. Unfortunately, since I’ve been studying in the states for the last 5 years I don’t have any queer friends around and none of my straight friends want to go lesbian/gay clubbing with me (boo).
Next Saturday, there’s a party going on at Taboo, the supposed lesbian club of Taipei. It’s a pajama party (mmmmmmmmm! ;), so if anyone is interested in checking it out with me, I’d love some company!

hahaha, I made two straight friends accompany me to Taboo a few weeks back and I think they found it kind of, um, intense? I would totally be down for this, except I’m not free this Saturday. Damn. You go drink that Taboo beer with ice cubes and rock those pyjamas, though. And boi beauty competition? YES.

I’ve never been to Taboo before, to be honest, I rarely go clubbing even though I’m a college student lol.

Right! But also, @microwave, tell us where you hang out instead? I definitely wouldn’t call Taboo my favourite place ever (by a really long way) – it was so extremely smokey and LOUD, we mainly hung out on the wall outside, and played with someone’s puppy.

Apologies for my clubbing-obsession. Just finished my first year in college, and pretty sick of the frat scene by now.
Ha, no need to apologise – I don’t know much about the frat scene, but the way it is in my imagination isn’t ideal!
Me? Oh…well, I would go drinking sometimes in pubs (there are plenty in Ximending) I prefer a small comfortable pub to a nightclub. Or there are always some restaurants that serve endless servings of beer for a fee, those are pretty awesome too!
taiwaners – I’ve arrived! apparently there was some sort of pride thing happening tonight in Fresh, my (straight) roommate is bizarrely keen on exploring the lesbian scene here so we were gonna check it out, but decided we were both too tired tonight (arrived yest) and instead we are being lame and watching TV in our pjs… does anyone fancy Taboo sometime? if nothing else the entry fee is pretty good for us girls..
oh hey, welcome! Can’t believe you’ve been here a day and already know about a pride thing at Fresh; I have literally never even heard of it, good work! I have a friend’s leaving thing this weekend, but am totally up for Taboo – or maybe even one of microwave’s not-Taboo places – next week? Good luck with the jet lag in the meantime :)
hey guys! Taboo has a dress shirt party this saturday too– how does that sound for our taiwan straddler meet up? :) if anyone wants to grab drinks/chill anytime this week, i’m down too.

Yesss, I can do Saturday! But could also do other days, too, mfjay, if you want to concentrate on the move in? Either way, what do you guys think about maybe meeting somewhere else first, just so we can, like, hear each other’s real names before we hit up the other stuff? (Does dress shirt just mean shirt? I think it just means shirt. I looked at the poster, and the whole thing was basically a picture of a shirt.)

But also, I just matched dates to a calendar, and looked at something other than just the picture of a shirt with a bowtie, and the poster I thought was this poster says it’s on Sunday from 1pm – 7pm? And this seems like a really crazy time to hold an event in an underground nightclub – am I just accidentally looking at the wrong thing?!
Yeah I looked it up and saw those times too.. confused..! Can anyone else shed some light on that?
But totally up for meeting up regardless of dress shirt parties.. any suggestions of bars to go to if we want a slightly quieter start to the evening? Saturday aside, I’m free basically any other night apart from this Fri :)
Ok. Looked at it… Since it’s a “summer” party, I guess it’s like a pool party… without a pool?
If it’s in the afternoon… not sure if I can make it until say 5 or 6. Should we make a raincheck and postpone until next week? As for bars, my friends and I found a cute bar in 東區 (where bars are plenty!) with around 100nt drinks, dice, darts, etc. It was pretty empty on a Saturday night, but the deco is really sweet and we all liked it a lot.
Next week works for me – I should be able to do any night. Looking forward to meeting you guys! :)

Ha, great news on both counts! SO, shall we just say Friday for definite? At a time like maybe 8.30 or 9, in the place michelle was suggesting? (Those times are ballpark, feel free to modify.) @microwave, are you still here, or are you in Ukraine already? Also, we should probably start a new thread for this, because I’m not sure how much thinner this box can really get…
