Autostraddle Musicians 12 years, 4 months agoYo yo yo, fellow lesborockers. I write a buncha sad things and then sing them while playing guitar in and around the Boston area — anyone up for a jam or a busk? It’s mostly the folksy singer/songwriter stuff…some alt rock feel and lots of queer covers in the mix. I like making friends. Also I have a fancy-schmancy “demo” for anyone’s listening…[Read more]

I feel like my choice of instruments is really futch. I always felt in high school like the cello was really feminine and sensitive, while the bass was really masculine and powerful. At least, that’s how I felt playing each one.

really? i feel like the cello is the futch of the instruments whereas the violin is the hyperfeminine one (and of course i’m partial to the cello.) i like how it has a deeper range than the violin, and it kind of sounds like a woman with a deep voice. or maybe i’m just talking out of my ass. :P

I’m tired of hearing about this supposed hyperfemininity of the violin from cellists. I’ve always found the cello to be more feminine because there’s this liquid quality to the sound, yes, like a woman with a deep voice, whereas the violin has more of a sharpness/brightness. (As a violinist I always felt that playing my instrument was an…[Read more]

Music Addicts Annonymous 12 years, 4 months agoOK, so I am digging this “Mixed Tape Exchange” idea Scantron threw out earlier. If you are interested, maybe we should have a vote on potential mixed tape delivery methods, and go from there, ok? Feel free to offer loads of suggestions, or even just leave a comment saying you’re interested.
.
The two possibly methods that were thrown out already…[Read more]-
maybe we can start a separate group on here just for mixtape club. if people like the physical CD idea, we can have people facilitate it so its like a secret santa kinda thing. we all make a mix and they all get dispersed at random.

I like your style, it’s close to my own and I especially love harmonizing in those minor-y keys. I wish I lived closer to Boston! Rock on, dude. :)
Rug Burn is so beautiful, and I love your voice. A lot. Unfort. I live nowhere near Boston. *sigh* But your music is A+ :D
