The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 3 months agoI’m finally reading “Rubyfruit Jungle” and it’s great. There are so many lines and passages I can relate to. I’ve been underlining like crazy, a habit I picked up in college and just can’t shake!

My biggest problem with being shy is that I just CANNOT engage in idle conversations with people when I first meet them. it is easier online. i’m a librarian & i too, love obscure movie references. grew up with The Princess Bride, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, and several other oh-so-quotable movies as favorites. i love the color red. how about you, saltybox? (& all you lurkers). :)

-
and then the silences stretch on and on and the longer they go the harder it is to break them…yeah that sucks

I always find people like that intimidating. I love talking about the weather, but I always care too much about it. Like, I want to talk about the social and political aspects of it, and how people perceive it to shape national character, and all this other bullcrap nobody wants in their small talk.
-
I know, I always forget good things to ask until after the conversation is over.
