Hey there Genderstraddlers, I am non-binary (they/them pronouns) and have been having an interesting time with dating (in the past) but also right now. I’ve started seeing someone who has identified as lesbian for many years but also recognizes that she’s been attracted to non-binary people and recognizes the connotation of lesbian- meaning woman attracted to women. It seems to be limiting is some ways, and a hurtful word for me because of the “women” connotation. So I’ve had consistent conversations with others, and her, about what it means with my identity.

    Any thoughts?

    • This might be a really late comment, but how are you being treated? Is she open to what you have to say? And are you comfortable with her using the word lesbian? Personally, I would be uncomfortable if someone I was dating identified as a lesbian and it meant “women only” to them because I’m masc genderqueer.
