So…recently I read “The Help” by Katheryn Stockett (522 pgs). Mostly I read it because my mom had just read it, and wanted me to read it so we could go see the movie together. It was okay. I enjoyed it. I expected something more, I think.

Also, Intern Grace’s team pick inspired me to re-read Joey Comeau’s “One Bloody Thing After Another” (165 pgs). It’s a short book and a quick read. I first picked it up last spring, and probably read it in one sitting. It is unlike any novel I had ever read before – a bizarre mixture of comedy and horror, including ghosts, monsters and a teenage lesbian. It’s strange and wonderful and queer — probably not for everyone, but if you like the tone and humor of Joey’s other stuff (like webcomics ASW and We are become Pals ) then the chances are good that you will like this too.
