OkCupid Survivor Group 11 years, 4 months ago Haha, why does the description of this group seem more fitting for the likes of Downelink. I mean, OkCupid exiled me in a couple of months, but I met two normal flesh and blood people there–one of whom I talk to frequently enough.
Downelinkers now………..that’s an entirely different forcefield of creepy.
What does exiled mean? Do they actually kick people off?
Poor choice of words. I essentially mean that after being there for a while, I have several times nominated my own exile.
Definitely kicking for the right people. What I’ve noticed is that communities that are not well represented on more popular dating sites like OKC, tend to etch out niches in places like downelink. While I will not (ever, ever, ever) find more than the 5 people in Jamaica on OKC, each of which have at most 50% match and at least 50% enemy with me, there are tonnes of Jamaicans on downelink and it’s sort of bizarre, but not really.
It’s a small country, with even smaller cities and queer folk here are incredibly cliquey. It’s less about meeting new people, and more about being connected to old people and the people they know who you may potentially get a chance to have casual sex with. And with the ability to make your profile private and add animated GIFs and ‘friend’ people, downelink is really the perfect place for that kind of set-up.
