I love Nalo Hopkinson! She’s a scifi writer whose stories are based in Caribbean culture, which is an element I really haven’t seen incorporated into scifi before. I read her first book ‘Brown Girl in the Ring’ and was really excited about it. So I went out and found another of her books, ‘Midnight Robber,’ and I just started it today. So good! ‘Brown Girl in the Ring’ was more of an Earth-based, dystopian future type of scifi and ‘Midnight Robber’ takes place on a colonized planet and in another dimension. Highly recommended!

    • I think I need to read these all. (Assuming I can even find them here in the Antipodes :P)

      • If you can find them, you should definitely give them a try! Now that I’m thinking about it, I vaguely recall reading and liking another one of her books several years ago. It was called something like “The Salt Roads” or maybe just “Salt Roads” and it had time travel. So she’s got something for any scifi preference!

    • I read Brown Girl in the Ring! I’d forgotten it, I ‘m going to have to find some other stuff by her, because it was an AWESOME book.
