Femme Straddlers 12 years, 5 months agodoes anyone else read the fashion blog Fit for a Femme (http://fitforafemme.com/blog/)? So girly, so stylish, and so so gay :)
-
I love FFAF, she is lovely and so stylish!
-
I LOVE FIT FOR A FEMME. She is the reason I’ve started wearing top knots.
-
I LOVE FFAF! She is one the reasons why I have felt so sure of myself and femme identity.
-
Me too! I think it’s so great she is able to use her awesome sense of style to make a contribution to others in the GLBTIQ community :)
-
same here. I came out as femme to myself a couple of months after I started reading her blog. It helps against Femme Angst, too. ;)
-
Femme Angst… it is a thing. Thank you, I didn’t have a name for that feeling of ‘I don’t look like any gay in my city and nobody will believe I’m queer maybe I should just give up on the possibility of finding love’, but now I do.
Femme Straddle is doing a lot for my Femme Angst, though :)
-
It totally IS A Thing. It’s always good to know that I am not alone with this problem / feeling of being invisible. :)
-
-
-
-
Me too! It makes me a little sad that I work in a lab all day and have limited clothing options…
-
I LOVE her blog! She has incredible style, and her posts always seem more substantive than other fashion blogs, even though she doesn’t ramble on and on. I love that she features her partner’s fashion, too.
-
I know! I love reading about stylish butch attire, even if I don’t wear it much myself. Have you read the Dapper Q website? Awesome for those who rock / admire a more butch aesthetic.
-
-
Also, FFAF is helping me get over my fears of being overdressed, because, really, there’s no such thing :)
-
I usually take “overdressed” to mean “I’m jealous that your outfit is awesomer than mine”, if that’s any help ;) I see nothing wrong with expressing ourselves through clothes… so long as we don’t go bankrupt or break our ankles doing it, of course!

Femme Straddlers 12 years, 5 months agoI made this group coz I often feel like the only femme in the village when I go out. So I love to be reassured that I’m not the only girly girl out there and not the only one who faces: “you’re too pretty to be gay” “or no you’re not.” when I tell someone I like ladies.
-
I KNOW RIGHT, I can like to coordinate my eyeliner to my sundress and still like teh ladies! And the too pretty argument, UGH UGH UGH. You’re too ugly to be straight.
-
One of the best compliments I ever got was from a butch who noticed that I coordinated my eyeliner to my nail polish and the accent color in my scarf. Fear now, folk who appreciate this are out there!
-
-
“you’re too pretty to be gay” is the WORST. Gaydom is what ugly women do (beause they can’t find a man)? Um, no.
-
augh, this drives me mad every time someone tells me this. my best friend’s parents actually think it’s just a phase specifically because i’m “too pretty” to like women. what kind of logic is that? fffff get out and shut the door when you leave.
-
I’ve had gay men say it to me, I didn’t even know what to say…
-
-
hey, im in the same boat, the “too pretty” thing is a popular come back if i tell someone im gay but theres also the “aw, such a waste” – i wana say , wtf?? to most of those ppl but i hate confrontation and just sorta roll with the punches. i needa get a back bone installed! lol
-
Oh my god, my old boss (who is female!!!!) once told me it was ‘such a waste’ that Portia de Rossi is gay. I just kind of gaped at her, but I wish I’d asked her what the hell she meant, because I never understand that crap.
-
but in all honesty, I think we’ve all secretly thought the same about a straight girl :P
-
-
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who worries about the way I dress affecting whether or not people believe that I’m not attracted to men. I mean, I hope I’m never self-centered enough to think I’m the “only one who…” anything, but still, nice to see confirmation.
-
that’s coz femmes are hidden in masses of straight girls, tis why I had to create the group.

Does anybody else’s feline acquaintance (they sure as hell don’t like to be called “pets”) eat their food with their paws?
-
Yes, and drinks water that way. She dips her paw in water and licks it off her paw.
-
One of my cats does that too – it’s cute until he starts dipping his paws into my glass
-
sometimes my cat does that right after she’s clearly been in the litter box. and she’s usually drinking out of my girlfriend’s bedside table water. my girlfriend freaks out and calls it poop water, and i laugh and laugh.
-
-
My cat Petey (also my avatar on here) drinks this way! I thought he was the only one, since none of our other cats do this.
