Hmm, there seem to be several comments about Book Club being over – I hope it’s not. I don’t really want Book Club to ever end. Anyway I’m going to tell you about the book I finished this morning anyway, it was ’How To Be A Woman’ by Caitlin Moran (313 pages).
Caitlin Moran is a pretty well-known British journalist and the blurb of this book refers to it as ’The Female Eunuch from a bar stool’ and ’part memoir, part rant’. I think I would have prefered it if it was more memoir because she is pretty funny and quite sweet in places. A lot of the parts where she’s musing on feminism are a little tedious – I don’t know, I just felt like I’d read a lot of it before or experienced it personally however there was no real connection between writer or reader (I felt, maybe other readers would disagree…) and there was no especially fresh or funny twist on it either.
I would be interested to hear what any other Book Clubbers thought of it.
I’m still working my way through The Count of Monte Cristo, I think I have read about 400 pages and have 600 to go…
