Ohhh! Canada 12 years, 3 months agoHi Canadians. I’m a Kiwi with Canadian Citizenship. I hope to move there end of this year. So, I hope this isn’t an annoying/repeated question but could anyone tell me if there is a big difference in job opportunities etc between Vancouver and Toronto? Originally I wanted to move to Montreal but that’s impossible to find work in if you are not…[Read more]

I guess it really depends on what your looking for, as far as I know there probably isn’t that much of a difference. If you just want to do food service/coffee shop type deal you should be fine, because THAT ACCENT OMG.
Toronto is a lot more urban/hard core but it is the place for theatre for sure. Although vancouver has a pretty thriving theatre…[Read more]-
Thanks for the reply, affirmation is also gratefully recieved. Perhaps I’ll just flit gayly from one city to the other and find out for myself. Montreal is winning atm just because of proximity to friends in NY. And NY. Have fun in Oz! I’ll be there soon, too! (Melbourne :) ). I’m sure you and your accent will have a wonderful time!

Ohhh! Canada 12 years, 3 months agoHappy Canada Day! Hope everyone’s having a terrific day! What are everyone’s plans for the long weekend? I have a dental appointment first thing tomorrow morning, so no partying for me. Just a quiet evening in marathoning Canadian films and documentaries on NFB.ca. Going on Sunday to see Billy Elliot, and possibly do a little pride parading with…[Read more]

The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 3 months agoYou guys. Autostraddle book clubs are fun and all, but I really want to find an awesome book group IRL. Anyone know of a lesbo book group in Brooklyn or NYC area that’s open to new members?

Ohhh! Canada 12 years, 3 months agoheya,
i’m heading out to quebec city tomorrow, will be staying for a week
any suggestions where to go (sightseeing/night life) or perhaps someone interested in meeting up with a fellow straddler? :)-
tomorrow is st. jean, you’re aware, right? biggest party in the province will be on the plains of abraham tomorrow evening.
-
i had to google that… so eh no i was not aware XD thanks
i’m arriving late at night though, but maybe i can catch some fireworks
-
-
The party goes pretty much ALL NIGHT (music on the plains until 4am or so) β But that is tonight, on the eve of st jean, and not tomorrow. Tomorrow night will be more chill. Itβs a statutory holiday for the province.

If you are into a pub atmosphere, there are some cool places downtown on St. Jean, outside the walls. Fou bar and Sacrilege are popular. Nelligans, on a nearby sidestreet, is a small popular Irish pub. Places inside the walls tend to attract more of a tourist crowd. Pub St Alexandre has a wide selection of local microbrews (apricot beer, pumpkin…[Read more]
