The condom mishap: This is for all my fellow queers who like to wrap up their toys when playing, but may be allergic to latex.
A few weeks ago I thought to myself, “self…. I need to be fucked (strapped)” . Now usually I’m the one strapping it on but oh how times are a changing. So my umm boi and I headed over to the local Target store and pick u…[Read more]

ALSO I have a question! Those of you who have library degrees – what sort of work did you have to do within them?-
I saved the link to watch later–I’ve been interested in how other countries approach libraries as an entity. (The Australian model and US model appear similar.)
As a grad student, I’ve taken classes on Into to Libraries (history, overview of information exchange theory, usually bits about sociology, business management, and a little bit of…[Read more]

http://bit.ly/jlIWOZi’m so pissed off that i can’t be objective right now. please forgive me. a society spends money on what it agrees is important…so, sponsoring NASCAR is more important that school f*cking libraries?!! *i need a minute*

Kids who don’t enjoy reading or think critically will grow up into the kind of adults who do not think critically when exposed to political rhetoric or fact-check stuff important people say. One of the professors at my iSchool did research that showed student performance was better in schools with degreed librarians than in those without one ……[Read more]

ReachoutReads is a website for teens that recommends YA lit for life’s tough situations, and hosts author chats so readers can discuss the books and meet other folk going through what they’re going through. I don’t see anything queer yet, but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t there by the end of the month…

I’m joining the group because I really REALLY want to move to Chicago, and knowing some awesome queers will hopefully motivate me enough to make it happen!
-
make that shit happen!!! i did!
-
how did you do it? I mean the only thing really holding me back right now is my fear of being unemployed/failing/having to move back in with my mother (yikes) and it’s a big cliff to jump off
-
well, i kind of got lucky. my friend and her new wife moved to L.A. and need someone to rent her condo. i really didn’t want to move to chicago so soon but i couldn’t pass up the deal. i still work and go to school in dekalb, well until i don’t have to anymore.

We had a token Republic Roman Catholic dad in one of my classes, and he pulled a lot of BUT WHAT ABOUT US and my classmates gentle reminded him that it wasn’t all about him, and that tailoring curriculum and classroom libraries to every parents’ set of morals was a slippery slope to accepting the parents who think interracial marriage is immoral….

that’s what i love about working in the public library. it’s not always comfortable, but we serve the entire community. there’s something extremely democratic & patriotic about that, i feel. there are lines that won’t be crossed, however, like the infamous ”flat earth” conundrum from my slis class, birther literature, and eugenics materials t…[Read more]

I’m not good at meeting ladies. My friends tell me I should play a sport or join a club. I embrace clichés. Hence, the following question:
What’s the good word on local ladies softball leagues? -

My parents tell me of this strange year (2 years ago? maybe?) where it only got legit warm for 2 weeks in July and then started cooling off. I almost panicked. I move to the south for 2 years and get spoiled by tulips popping out of the ground in January.
-
Yeah, that actually happened. It was not fun. Hopefully not again this year… we’ve already had those two 90 degree days, so I’m hoping that won’t be the case…
