Animestraddle 12 years, 5 months agoWhich yuri series do you recommend? I’m a yuri newbie – I know Sailor Moon well and I’ve seen bits of Strawberry Panic and Kashimashi.

Top 5 artists, go!
I’d say that mine are (in no particular order) Candice Breitz, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Hieronymus Bosch, Robert Rauschenberg, and Francesco Vezzoli.-
ok, first of all, this: http://fyeaharthistorymajorcat.tumblr.com/post/3765383875/picture-background-an-eight-piece-pie-style
second of all: bosch? AHAHAHAWESOME!
now… shit. ok. Artemisia Gentileschi, Manet, Bernini, JMW Turner, and El Greco. GODDAMMIT that was hard, and I’ll probably have a different answer tomorrow. stay tuned.

Ooo, Turner’s a good choice!
Not crazy about Gaugin either, but I’d say that my least favourite artist is…it’s a tie between Henri Rosseau and Chagall. It’s funny, because as an animal nut one would think that I’d appreciate the motifs in their works. But I have just never liked their styles at all.

hate gaugin, also, don’t hate me, but i dislike kiki smith

Sally Mann, Alice Neel, Rona Pondick, Wolf Kahn, Andrew Wyeth
[Rauschenberg, Rothko, and Degas tie for sixth]

I don’t really “work” in theatre, but I plan to! I kind of want to do everything (acting, directing, tech, etc.). I’m probably gonna be studying it a lot in college, which I’m really excited for.

Well I used to….I was in musical theatre development, and then the economy flopped right as I moved cross country. No more theatre jobs for a while :(
Boo.

I haven’t seen Sasameki Koto or Aoi Hana but they’re based on very yuri manga. Maria-sama ga Miteru is a classic but like a lot of yuri series, a lot of it is subtexty and you have to be wearing yuri-googles to see them. Simoun, Blue Drop, MariaHolic, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and MaiHime/Otome also have yuri to them (to the best of my memory). I…[Read more]
Seconding Utena and Maria-Sama. You don’t so much need full on yuri goggles for ’em, more like lightly yuri-tinted glasses.
Haha yes, that is more accurate. It’s been so long since I’ve watched them so I’m not too sure about yuri content.
Loveless is a short series that’s mostly Yaoi, but there is a yuri pairing and I really loved it. I also really liked MaiHime.
A more recent show that has quite a bit of subtext is Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. I really enjoyed it.
Girl Friends by Morinaga Milk is AMAZING. It’s quite girly, and gayngsty, but it’s full of cute girls. You have to read it online, though, since it hasn’t been licensed. makimakimanga.com is where it is~
