I just want to talk to the characters in books. We are already friends. Anyone else share this feeling?
-
hehe I felt that way about Anne of Green Gables…but I didn’t know I was gay then…
-
I don’t usually think they’d ‘get me’ or whatever but I feel that way about a lot of characters, actually. Some of them come and live in my head so I’m not too lonely. I don’t think that’s too weird?
-
If I could I’d live in George r. R. Martin’s universe, or Anne McCaffrey’s Pern. I just know I’d get along so well with everyone, LOL
-
I’ve always wanted to live in the Shire and smoke pipeweed with Frodo.
-
Sometimes I find myself talking to them in my head, then I realize I’m talking out loud and people are looking at me funny

My biggest problem with being shy is that I just CANNOT engage in idle conversations with people when I first meet them. I either get completely tongue-tied or I talk about obscure movie references or weird food histories. Maybe I will practice being more normal here: What do you do for a living? Where do/did you go to school? Have you seen any…[Read more]

it is easier online. i’m a librarian & i too, love obscure movie references. grew up with The Princess Bride, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, and several other oh-so-quotable movies as favorites. i love the color red. how about you, saltybox? (& all you lurkers). :)
-
It is easier online, although I do enjoy the confused look I get if I say “Have fun storming the castle” as someone leaves.
-
that is fun.

small talk is baffling, I can never figure out what to say and then it all just becomes awkward silences.
-
Yeah, me too. It’s worse when I’m at work though – why oh why do I have to have customers that need entertaining? My favourite small talk is the weather. I just make it up, of course, but that’s the fun bit hehe
-
and then the silences stretch on and on and the longer they go the harder it is to break them…yeah that sucks
-
-
I always find people like that intimidating. I love talking about the weather, but I always care too much about it. Like, I want to talk about the social and political aspects of it, and how people perceive it to shape national character, and all this other bullcrap nobody wants in their small talk.
-
I know, I always forget good things to ask until after the conversation is over.

Harry Potter Appreciation Society 12 years, 5 months agoDearest Fellow Muggles,
I have a problem. After seeing the movie version of PoA I swore off the HP movies. I saw GoF on tv but I haven’t seen the ones following that. Part of me wants to see the final film but a huge, years-long ban on the movies still stands in my heart. I don’t know what to do. Also, this is the second part of DH so it will be a…[Read more]-
When you look back on your life, you’ll regret the things you didn’t do more than the ones you did.
-
Oh, I swore them off as well. But then I sort of watch one by mistake and decide it to take them as completely separate entities from the book… since then I’ve been able to watch them and complain/like what I think I should but enjoy something that I already know I adore!! lol
-
The movies and books age really well over time. I like the movies more after the 3th+ time I watched them. I liked the books more after the 2nd+ readthroughs. I don’t know why. I think it helps to watch the movies right after the other.
Like, I thought Harry was really whiny in the 5th book the first time I read it, but not anymore. And I thought…[Read more] -
I refused to see any of the movies until I’d read all of the books.
Now I’ve seen some of them, and I saw Year 7 part one in theaters and was able to enjoy watching it by letting go of wanting it to be a close representation of the book.
I’ve read the books so many times that I think I subconsciously fill in the movie’s plot holes with my mind. -
The fourth movie defenitely sucked, but the 7th movie part 1 is quite good imo

Harry Potter Appreciation Society 12 years, 5 months agowhich house would you all be sorted into? slytherin through and through, personally. (ambition and cunning? the sorting hat would pick me faster than draco malfoy!)
-
I’m a Gryffindor, though and through, complete with annoying Gryff flaws and A BADASS GUITAR SOLO.
-
on a side note, any AVPM/AVPS fans here? i feel like a large amount of my potter-related conversations eventually become giant quote recitations, and it is a glorious thing.
-
I’m not very good at finding things so I would NOT be a Hufflepuff.
-
what the hell is a hufflepuff?
-
-
YESS
New post/quote thread?
-
-
Slytherin, eh? I already feel like there’s something inherently wrong with you. :P
I would probably be in Hufflepuff. :”’-(
I prefer to be on the safer, law-abiding side than the adventurous rule-breaking side.
I’d much rather be in Gryffindor. Life’s too short to be a Hufflepuff. -
I’d thought Ravenclaw, but I guess it would really be up to the hat.
-
Well, I wouldn’t be slytherin, I could be in Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff would suit my nature (sometimes), and Gryfindor would suit me for other times. So I just don’t know.
-
Ravenclaw for sure. Sometimes I’ve had quizzes and shit sort me into Hufflepuff, when they focus just on the “loyalty” part and forget the “unafraid of toil” part – which is so not me. But I actually think if I broke down the likelihood of me getting into any particular house, it would be:
1. Ravenclaw, 2. Slytherin, 3. Hufflepuff, 4.…[Read more]
