Map of Ireland by Stephanie Grant is set in Boston in the 1970’s and deals with coming out and race issues from the perspective of a teenage girl. I watched The Weather Underground documentary not too long ago which turned out to be great historical context for this book.

I just finished The Bride of Catastrophe by Heidi Jon Schmidt and Homeschooling by Carol Guess. Relationships with (crazy) girlfriends. Relationships with (crazy) neighbors. Relationships with (crazy) families. All these things are included.

Since the summer book club ended, I’ve cut back on my reading because so much stuff has come up. But I haven’t stopped entirely!

Freedom (Jonathan Franzen) before bed (takes forever because, despite its beauty, I do fall asleep too quickly) and A Vist form the Goon Squad (Jennifer Egan) during the day. Both gorgeous, compelling and making me feel very inadequate.
