Fencestraddlers 12 years, 3 months agoOut of curiosity, does anyone else here feel a kind of different type of attraction towards a person depending on their gender? It’s definitely attraction, but it’s almost like an alternative mindset (in my own experience). Am I alone on this? Will this get me kicked out of the bisexual club? Honestly, though.

Agreed. :/
I keep intending to make a shirt with a big ‘B’ on it to wear to Pride, to increase our visibility. But every year, I forget until it’s too late.-
makes me glad autostraddle exists :)
-
Yeah it would have been nice to see more bi shirts at pride, though I wore my “card-carrying bisexual” button.
Especially I saw some lesbian wearing a “bi now, gay later” shirt. Ugh.

Fencestraddlers 12 years, 3 months agoRegardless of how you identify, what do people think of this? http://www.thescavenger.net/glb/bisexuality-does-not-reinforce-the-gender-binary-39675.html In the article, the author explains why she identifies as bi rather than pan or something else. I personally feel like a lot of this resonates me in terms of why “bisexual” has always fit me…[Read more]

Fencestraddlers 12 years, 3 months agoI found a really cheering sticker on an escalator the other day: it said “Les bi existent; la biphobie aussi” which means “Bisexuals exist; biphobia, too”. I felt a bit more included.

Fencestraddlers 12 years, 3 months agohas any encountered parents who do not believe that bisexuality exists? the other day my mother told me that people who identify as bisexual are hurting the gay rights movement. because there’s no way you can be born bisexual. SHWAT.
-
My parents didn’t initially believe *I* was bi but they definitely believe in bisexuals in general (and they’ve come around about my sexuality, too). I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. It really enrages me when people say bisexuality doesn’t exist. I found out a lot of my gay guy friends think women can be bisexual but men can’t, and it…[Read more]

Yipesorry! I misinformed you on the day. Trivia at Hopvine next Tuesday – 6/28. All the other info is true. Anyway, this should give you ample recovery time post-Pride and another chance to rehash all your favorite memories…

Is the hopvine/their trivia night all ages? Or might they let a properly demarcated minor in?

you wouldn’t be kicked out of my club, i absolutely agree. to me, not only sexual attraction, but love feels different with different genders
Yes.
Yes to “different attractions to different genders,” not yes to “getting kicked out of the bisexual club.”
I get what you mean, though, about feeling guilt that you clearly do see gender despite being bisexual. It’s one of the reasons why I don’t identify as pan.
This. I do see gender, and I especially see gender expression. I think it’s a good thing. Lots of people have issues/feelings about gender, and even if its not, its still a big factor in their lives. I think it’s good to be able to recognise that, especially for people whose gender/gender expression isn’t recognised by others.
