Autostraddle Summer Book Club 2011 12 years, 2 months ago (@internrachel, @julia1). Just finished The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, 321 pages. It is the most beautiful book I have read in a long time (and I read A LOT of books)! There is so much going on in this novel that it is incredibly hard to summarize. So! I am going to use someone elses words: “Equal parts powerful family saga, forbidden love story, and piercing political drama, it is the story of an affluent Indian family forever changed by one fateful day in 1969″. …”It is a story about the childhood experiences of fraternal twins whose lives are destroyed by the ‘Love Laws’ that lay down ‘who must be loved, and how, and how much.'”
I am one of those people who writes in their books and almost every line is underlined and scribbled around because it is written so wonderfully. The book starts at the end and ends..at the middle? I highly recommend it to all. :D
the last page of that book is i think one of the best last pages i’ve ever read
