The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 6 months agoHaven’t been reading too much lately, but I do have “The Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H.P.Lovecraft” and ” Dark Tower: The Long Road Home” graphic novel sitting next to my bed. I need to get back into the swing of Lovecraft and King, it’s been so long since I did any serious reading.

Do you have any suggestions for something like Lovecraft but not? I have the Necronomicon and a bunch of assorted horror anthologies and I intend to buy The King In Yellow, if that helps.

Pretttttty certain I’m the only gay person in it, because we are 98% white, conservative and Christian. If anyone lives remotely near me, talk to me! I know one queer girl IRL, could use some help in that department.

I found two gay boys here, and there’s one lesbian who’s in the 9th grade who’s been crushing on me recently, and I’m flattered but also going to college in the fall, and I want NO excuse to come back here EVER AGAIN because, as you probably know, small towns SUCK.

My school as 200 individuals in the building every day, and it’s a grade 7 through 12 school, and this number includes all of the students and all of the faculty. My school is about 400 people. And me and one bisexual girl. I didn’t realise I was gay until about 17, but from then on (last year) it’s been pretty horrendous. Fortunately leaving in three weeks!

I’d have to agree on that. Just read about your new ‘Don’t say Gay’ law, my heart goes out to all those queer kids. Here in the UK we had something similar, it was called Section 28 and it has had a very bad effect on gay kids in schools, including me.

Boo!) today and found a copy of Catherynne Valente’s ‘A Guide to Folk Tales in Fragile Dialects’ and I damn near orgasmed in the store. All you Pure Poetry lovers need to get this! She does such tasty things to words.
