The Great Library of Autostraddle 9 years, 4 months agoHiya,
I’ve been trying to come up with a great summer reading list to post to my goodreads, but sadly it’s been hard this summer. As of right now I’m reading “the no. 1 ladies detective agency” my BFF gave me a bagful of books! Anyone have recommendations for summer reading?? Huh huh??-
If you like detective stories, I recommend The Sherlockian by Graham Moore. It gets into the early suffragette movement in London at the time Doyle was writing the Holmes stories. I also enjoyed the first Gervase Fen mystery, The Gilded Fly by Edmund Crispin about a murder in Oxford during the Great War.

The Great Library of Autostraddle 9 years, 4 months agoI just finished re-reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and was once again amazed by how good it is! I seriously recommend reading it, the author immerses you in the world, you can almost smell and taste the circus around you. Admittedly, it gets a bit slow at the end but really worth a read!

The Great Library of Autostraddle 9 years, 4 months agoHey Starlight Starbrights,
I was recently attacked by the Spirit of Summer and have been on a quest for the perfect beginning of summer novel…and then this group trounced across my radar. Hooray!
So, I am looking for something weird, riveting, dark, compelling, spiritual, and populated by strong women. I typically migrate towards Alice…[Read more]

If you’re open to short stories, you might like Kelly Link (Magic for Beginners or Stranger Things Happen are good places to start) or Susanna Clarke’s The Ladies of Grace Adieu and Other Stories (she also wrote Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell). If you have a soft spot for fairy tales, check out Emma Donoghue’s Kissing the Witch. As for novels,…[Read more]
