Ohhh! Canada 12 years, 5 months agogot my census in the mail today. anyone know if there’s a way for them to count me as a queer person, sort of like the stickers americans used last year?
-
lol You could just scrawl on it “I’M GAY!!!” for them to take note, although I don’t think that’d be official. Still…that’s a funny thought…(to me)
-
It doesn’t look like it. I just filled mine out and it seemed like it didn’t have any real questions.
The most interesting thing it asked for was my birthday.
And if I would like my information to be available in the year 2103. -
I filled out the online version, but there’s a space at the end for comments/concerns. Unfortunately, it only let me fill in 160 words, which wasn’t nearly enough space for all my complaints and suggestions…which somebody better read…

thanks guys, the census sounds severely underwhelming.

It was…
I just used the comments section to ramble on about/hopefully coherently express my feelings of anger over the lack of long form census and the complete uselessness of the short form census questions.
Maybe I should have added a P.S. I’m gay at the end.

only 4.5 million people are receiving the National Household Survey” (aka the new long form) and even then, its voluntary.
You can order a paper version of the short form though, and maybe draw Harper a nice gay rainbow.
Unfortunately. I realized this after I filled out the online version…-
When I filled mine out, I included my girlfriend (gotta be living in the same house, though) and I as common-law partners in a same sex relaysh.
If you’re single or not living together, there isn’t really a way for them to count your lovely queerness. :( -
I was super bummed that I couldn’t do long-form. My parents did, but I didn’t, so I thought that I missed a step or something. Thanks for clarifying the reality.

Ohhh! Canada 12 years, 5 months agoI think for the next four years I’m going to be referring to this group as “Ohhhh, Canada :(“

Agreed.
I also might go into hibernation and/or pretend that this just isn’t happening… -
My facebook status is pretty much that too.
And I’m trying to invent some kind of new saying about taking one step back in order to take two/eight steps forward. I do think that the combination of a) Green Party getting a seat b) NDP opposition and c) so few Bloc seats and so few Liberal seats will shake things up a bit and make for some positive…[Read more]

Yeah, Harper as a person is kinda scary. He seems a little megalomaniacal. NDP 102, though! woo!
