Here’s a recent reading I did for myself as a sort of general status check with the Nomad Tarot. I did this the same day I got it — I had thought it would be more just to own as an art object because the deck’s illustration is so spare, but I found myself really wanting to read with it right away, and am pleased by reading with it so far. I used a…[Read more]

Hello tarot friends! I’m finally set up enough after a move to have found and unpacked my cards and set up a small reading space. I also had a birthday, which means I bought myself two new decks: the Nomad Tarot and the Golden Tarot of Klimt. I also realized that if the thing I want to do for myself on my birthday is buy myself $60 of tarot cards,…[Read more]

    • Followed! The golden tarot of klimt was actually my first deck. lots of memories there :)

So I’m super delighted/surprised because the Nomad deck was created by a really good friend of mine! SMALL WORLD. Congrats on a totally wonderful purchase; a lot of love went into that deck! Also, it’s a relief to know that other humans buy themselves birthday presents. That’s an important part of the birthday ritual, in my opinion.

hey friends! i haven’t been hanging around here much because i’ve been packing for a big move. But in the process of trying to organize my stuff pre-move and put everything I own into boxes, I was super excited to find that this old cigar box just managed to perfectly fit all of my decks and my little personal tarot-book-in-progress. It’s a little…[Read more]

    • Very nice! I need something like this. So I see the RWS and maybe the Collective Tarot in here. Mind sharing the names of the other decks?

      • The deck on the top left is the Transformational Tarot by Arnell Ando, which I got recently and (for the most part) like a lot. The tiny deck in the lower lefthand corner is actually just another RWS, but a miniature size that I sometimes find easier to shuffle and/or transport! (The thing with the golden circles isn’t a deck, just my notebook.)

    • Yay! That’s perfect :) So nice to have a special place to keep yr cards.

And good luck with your move Rachel!

I have a question for people who read with reversals! I think there’s a lot we could talk about with reversals in general that would be super interesting, but the other day I was stumped with a particular reading — I got a reversed card (Queen of Pentacles, if it helps) in a position in the spread that indicated something receding, or a quality t…[Read more]

    • It might be helpful to know what the other cards were in the reading. I think card reversals can mean many different things and can really depend on the individual reading. It would be interesting to have a thread here about reversals.
My initial thought is that it might mean that the energy present in the reversed Queen is something like lack…[Read more]

      • thank you Elisabeth! the idea of “needing to turn the card right side up” is brilliant and feels like it makes a lot of sense. the other thought i’ve been mulling over for this reading is that the reversed Queen of Cups might be a reference to unhealthy or toxic modes of nurturing, like codependence or smothering, which would make sense in the…[Read more]

        • Wow, Rachel! Everything about this reading screams relationship and change.

I get the sense from the Two of Wands that you may be feeling trapped in the relationship. (You don’t have to respond to this, I’m just musing and practicing.) And wonder if the reversed Six of Swords refers to a moving on that you know is happening/going to happen but…[Read more]

          • This is so interesting, and different than what I originally interpreted! Thank you for your insight, Elisabeth! I had read the 2 of Wands as pointing to concerns (either mine, my partner’s, or both) about being able to maintain individuality and our own individual agency within a relationship, which makes sense as that’s something I’ve…[Read more]

        • I hope I didn’t confuse the issue. You seem to already have had a really good grasp of the reading. I realized as I read your reply that there are many different positions for the Celtic Cross too. I wonder if it is possible to read a CC reading properly from every different perspective. Thanks for providing the source of your info, btw. I…[Read more]

      • I really like Elisabeth’s idea about learning to stop trying to turn the card right-way-up, letting go of this idea of being a ‘perfect woman’ and a nurturer… I also see this card as passing out of your life right now, and thus a sense of confusion around the

Personally, though, I really feel that reversed cards add a layer of smog to a…[Read more]

    • I’d love to hear the answers to this, too. I have one deck that includes some really basic meanings for reversals (The Vision Tarot–I found it while moving!) and another that doesn’t use reversals according to the creator of the deck. I find the one with reversals hard to read for similar reasons, and the meanings often seem completely…[Read more]

      • this is something i’ve found it helpful to refer to in the past on reversals — thinking of the traditional meaning of the card being blocked or delayed or out of proportion makes sense to me, especially because it doesn’t necessarily change the upright meaning of the card, just put that meaning in a different perspective. I’m reading through P…[Read more]

        • I did a large reading last night that was pretty confusing with the reversals until I gave up on the “traditional” meanings that were included with the deck, and just started going with an approach that starts from the “normal” reading and looks at the reversal in a more negative light. I like the article you linked because I was mostly just…[Read more]

hey all! i just finished OINTB season 2 finally. I was wondering if other people had thoughts about how piper’s sexual orientation/bisexuality was depicted this season? i haven’t fully formulated my thoughts yet but would love to hear what others think!

    • I think the word “bisexual” was only uttered once? When Larry was being all Larry-centric and trying to figure out how someone “stops being a lesbian and then goes back to being a lesbian.” So, it is really especial how her sexuality is only relevant to this unpleasant, unlikable straight cis dude -which, now that I think of it, is kind of cool on…[Read more]
