Autostraddle Summer Book Club 2011 12 years, 4 months agoI am reading “Always My Child” prior to making my mom read it, so she’ll stop saying stuff that is really offensive and upsetting. I am just at the beginning, and mostly I am feeling upset about all the offensive and upsetting stuff she’s said in the past, and that I didn’t get that angry about at the time because I didn’t know I as allowed to get…[Read more]

Other Feelings: I literally ‘lol’ed the entire way through this book. Since I live in an Asian city where I am one of very few foreigners, this way not the best way to either a)…[Read more]-
i read the hunger games series earlier this year, and by the end of mockingjay, i actually threw the book across the room. maybe it’s more honest for the character, but i was frustrated about how katniss seemed to just wilt and we spent most of the book following her into dark corners where she could sleep. i felt like i’d lost my hero.

Autostraddle Summer Book Club 2011 12 years, 4 months agoI just finished “The Blade Itself” by Joe Abercormbie, and I can’t believe that I’ve barely read any fantasy the last couple of years. It’s dark and gritty and pretty much pure awesomeness.
Now I’m reading the first Discworld novel, “The Colour of Magic”, but I’m not quite sure if I like it yet.

Autostraddle Summer Book Club 2011 12 years, 4 months agoI highly recommend “The Blue Place” by Nicola Griffith, together with the two sequels “Stay” and “Always.” There is a really fascinating protagonist in Aud. Also wonderful is “Solitaire” by Kelley Eskridge. These are wonderful writers and I guarantee you will enjoy the books.
