Earth’s Children series. It’s a very well-researched historical fantasy series set in Paleolithic Europe. And it likes the gays, though they’re not very prevalent
this this this. i read this series starting in the 6th grade because i wanted to be an archaeologist. she puts in sooo much detail…but, then i got through to Plains of Passage and had to wait TEN YEARS for her to finish the next book because she does so much research/writes slow. oh, so worth it. The most recent book in the series just came out, too.
Omigosh, I got it the day it came out. Finished it the next day. So good! <3
It’s not recent but A Man, by Orianna Falacci is the best book I’ve ever read in my whole life
‘The Orphan’s Tales’ by Catherynne Valente is actually two books (‘In the Night Garden’ and ‘In the Cities of Coin and Spice’) and they’re absolutely brilliant. Oh, and a musician named SJ Tucker did two companion albums to the books called “Solace and Sorrow” and “For the Girl in the Garden” (which you can listen to in their entirety at those links) containing songs inspired by and readings from the books. “Firebird’s Child” is one of my favorite songs ever!
Thank you! My night stand seems empty and forlorn with out Infinite Jest on it. It has been there sooooo long that it is hard to imagine a night stand without it. I’ve been on a modernist kick for a while so it will be good to get on another type of train.
