Femme Straddlers 12 years, 4 months agoGUYYYYYS I’m posting about @prufrock and my blog again but I don’t care, because this is awesome: http://buzzcutsandbustiers.com/2011/05/24/ask-your-bffs-butch-femme-friends-a-good-idea-or-the-best-idea/ Wherein we tackle anything you throw at us. Because surely you’ve got questions that can only be answered by a smart, lovingly snarky, and…[Read more]

I have a rhetorical (cough cough right) question for you.
How is it that all the couples I know are monogomous, but all the people I date are poly (as a lifestyle). How’d all the monogomous people find each other?
-
Yay thanks for playin! Question has been noted, and we’ll reply with the link here when our first answers post goes up! :)
-
how do butches tell femmes are queer? are we really that invisible? I mean, I have dyke hair now obvs, but I don’t think it makes me look any queerer…just wondering. ;)
-
Sweet, thanks for the question! We got ya and should have an answers column up soon! :)
-
These questions. I second them. And will plug my own blog in which the “invisible femme” phenomenon was a recent topic: http://deviantthoughts.wordpress.com/2011/05/15/fabulous-femmes/

Sweet! Will definitely check it out. Our answers column is up if you want to take a look! http://buzzcutsandbustiers.com/2011/05/27/ask-your-bffs-monogamy-femme-invisibility-and-butch-protective-energy/

Post is up!! http://buzzcutsandbustiers.com/2011/05/27/ask-your-bffs-monogamy-femme-invisibility-and-butch-protective-energy/ Feedback welcomed, natch.

You two are awesome! Thank you for the very thoughtful answer–online dating has been a whole delicate balance of expectations, reality, voicing my needs but being willing to try new things–but it will be something to think on. :D
-
Thanks again for the question! The frequency of the feature will probably be based on volume of questions, so never hesitate if there’s another topic you want us to tackle :)

When I find that great lady on a dating site, I want to write her but I always feel like what I have to say is DUMB. Advice on what to write to break the ice and make nice? ;)
-
Yay thanks for the question! We’ll keep it on hand for the next installment!!

Femme Straddlers 12 years, 5 months agohey femmes, is anyone having trouble with replying to comments in Femme Straddle? When I click ‘reply’ nothing happens… but the main reason I am posting this is to say thank you for all your lovely and thoughtful responses to my question about femme-ness, I would really like to engage with what you wrote, but GRRR the thing won’t let me.
-
Yes! If I click the “reply” button, it just refreshes the page but does not provide me with a text box. HOWEVER, if I click “view” next to the timestamp, it takes me to the permalink for the comment and from there the reply button works. THE EXISTENCE OF THIS COMMENT PROVES IT! TA DA! (Still, I wonder if there’s a place we can email/comment about…[Read more]

THANK YOU! You are a genius / lifesaver :D
Yes, I agree, an email of help is in order, I wonder who to contact? The weird thing for me is that Femme Straddle seems to be the only site I can’t reply normally too.

tess is the tech person, I think.

Femme Straddlers 12 years, 5 months agoIs it totally penisy to join a group and immediately start plugging your blog? Yes? Maybe? Because my buddy @prufrock and I have a pretty sweet butch-femme blog and our latest post, a convo on dating, MIGHT JUST BE RELEVANT TO YOUR INTERESTS, fellow fab femmes: http://buzzcutsandbustiers.com/2011/05/19/the-butchfemmeinist-dating-edition/

Oh, that was fun to read, and though-provoking too. Thanks for sharing it! (I admit, now I feel a little down about not having a date for NYC pride, but I always have a good time with my friends anyway, and I get to hold hands with one of them. :D)

WOO! Thanks for reading! Hope you’ll check back—we’re still a little poky at getting content up, but I’m pretty proud of what does go up :) Your Pride friend-dates sound perfect!

Day to day: (and a lot of events): dark jeans, fitted black v-neck t shirts, black boots and statement necklace. The occasional wrap/a-line/shirtdress with an interesting pattern. Getting into the tights-with-shorts thing this summer because I’m at the upper age bracket for looking cute and not silly.
Work/Some events: A black blazer makes…[Read more]
Nice, sounds both classy and comfortable :) I love a statement necklace with blacks and boots, a great way to inject a bit of character without going OTT. Also, you folk dance? Awesome!
I contra :D Especially techno contra when I can manage it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt6BhNSpoRY (A lot of hot nerdy gay girls and other queer folk are into it, surprisingly enough)
At work I try for classics/basics with a little bit of a sharp edge. Lot of grayscale, minimal color pops, clean straight lines, very little in the way of patterns or pastels or soft ruffly anything. If I could steal Kalinda(of the Good Wife)’s wardrobe I would in a heartbeat. I dunno how you would sum up her style? Biz-badass-caz?
The rest of my…[Read more]
Clothes of questionable taste are the best kind. I have a black t-shirt that is shirred/cut up and put together/threaded with maroon yarn and thread, with a subtle print of two fairies having sex on the back near the right hip. Best 3 euro I ever spent.
That sounds AMAZING.
YESSSSSSSSSSS distressed tees yesssssssssssssss. My bestie who knows me ALL to well just gave me a hot pink WWJJD (What Would Joan Jett Do) oversize tee that I cannot wait to tear up and put back together. Yours sounds fab :)
Ok! I actually have not watched the Good Wife before, so I googled the character, and, OMG, super hot. Femme but with a certain energy that makes her edgy rather than sweet. Mmm.
In other news, I really like your workwear. I quit my office job to work in a community organisation, but I used to wear: sleeveless sheath dress made from suit…[Read more]
That sounds like an awesome getup! Yeah, I find that it works out pretty well for me to have my dual identity: sharp biz caz something-or-other at work and totally grungily inappropriate on weekends. Even though I feel like the latter is more “authentic,” I’d definitely miss the put-together alter ego if it were no longer called for in my life.…[Read more]
I love AA, so I sort of switch between over the top colours with lots of short skirts and dresses to a bit of a nerd or even sometimes punkish look.
