The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 5 months agoMidway through The Island, by Aldous Huxley, which is super weird but also intriguingly prophetic for something written in 1962. Also enjoying a collection of poems by Muriel Rukeyser, which I serendipitously picked up at the Strand last weekend :)

The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 5 months agoJust finished reading “Always” by Nicola Griffith for the 4th time. It keeps getting better and better. I wish I could live in that book.

The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 5 months agoI’m working my way through Mrs Dalloway which is a gorgeous book, but kind of overwhelming so I’m moving slowly. Just finished Schoolgirls by Peggy Orenstein for my irl book club, which I’ve read before. It’s really kind of life-changing, I wish everyone would read it.

Cinderella Ate My Daughter is a really fascinating follow-up–it has its flaws, but fascinating reason behind the pinkification of girl culture in the Oughts.

That’s what we were originally going to read but it’s a recent release so there’s not a lot of used copies floating around & we try to keep things accessible for the group cost-wise. I am looking forward to getting my hands on it though!

The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 5 months agoI went on a queer book hunt at my bookstore last week and picked up Female Masculinity and Fun Home. I read Fun Home in one sitting – it was amazing!

The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 5 months agoAm currently reading Vanity Fair, which is excellent. I suspect in the 21st entury Beky Sharp would have been a lesbogay. It’s very funny and there’s a character called George Osborne, which is nice.
